I'm sorry, but after watching that video, I feel a strong need to call and make a report of criminal activity. And yes, I know there is a reward for reporting that criminal activity. But I feel it is my duty to do this.

Now, where IS that phone number where you can report tax cheats to the IRS? They DID say they were paying cash out for the "snitch on yer neighbor" program- right? Sounds to me as if this may meet the test for a CONSPIRACY to avoid paying taxes. Maybe even invoke the Racketing law.

Excuse me- I'll be back in a minute. :p

Get one of those prepaycell phones and go down the list reporting every libretard you come across... anything can be fun if you put your mind to it!!

Doesnt matter if they got a gun or not.

Damnit I love the way you think!

Seriously...people like us (all the members of this forum) really are the majority in this country. It is on our backs that welfare stims get filled and liberals get their war-on-guns money...how much longer will we stay quiet in public, venting in private forums?

Damnit im so sick of slimey libs and their "i never grew up past the age of 16" agendas.

Seems like a great way to create a database of known firearms owners considering that many people called out for owning guns wouldn't necessarily be breaking the law and thus would not get in trouble...

Don't they have some sort of registration in NJ?

Let's see, New York, New Jersey, DC, California, and Illinois. What other states should no one go to EVER, for any reason? That is complete BS. I would dare them to try, sue them, and take it all the way to the supreme court.

Message to members who live in these states. Get the hell out now!!! Move to a free state.

It is a play right out of Hitler or Stalin's book. For the same reasons. To gain control of the people.

I think y'all may be overreacting a bit. What he asks is that you report people illegally carrying a gun, nothing at all was said about owning a gun, or having a gun in your home. Black communities, while generally opposed to the crime on their streets, are terrified or culturally opposed to speaking out and working with law enforcement. This program's $1,000 incentive and it's anonymity may make a difference, how can anyone disagree with an honest attempt to rid the streets of potential murder weapons? Illegal weapons on the street are a thorn in the azz to every law abiding, responsible gunowner in the country because they are what the anti-gunners and libs use to justify their agenda.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the reluctance to trust the government or any politician that speaks in any way about gun control, turn in your neighbor type stuff...I share that feeling.

The problem is, let's say your neighbor sees you have a gun. How is he to determine if it's "illegal". It requires the person doing the snitching to determine the legality of something they aren't in a position to do. What happens in cases like this is innocent law abiding citizens get hassled and put to a lot of trouble and expense. There is also the problem that these laws can be easily abused. Back in the days of the Salem witch trials, if you got in a squabble with your neighbor, all you had to do is go to the authorities and say you think your neighbor is a witch. No more neighbor. In this case, people will get mad at their neighbor, make one phone call "I think I saw my neighbor with a gun", just to get even. It happens. Turn in your neighbor laws are never a good thing.

Wait, I just remembered one case where turning in your neighbor can be good. One day this guy is watching TV when a whole herd of cops arrive at his door. They present him with a search warrant and tell him they received an annonymous tip that he was hiding drugs in his wood pile. This army of cops decended on the mans wood pile with axes and chopped it to pieces, without finding anything illegal. They appologized and left. Shortly the guy's phone rings...its his best friend. "How's it going?" The guy says "Terrible, the cops came here. Someone told them I had drugs in my wood pile". His friend says "Yep, and the they chopped all your firewood for you didn't they...HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY".

I had the same thought as you did until I thought about it longer. The problem is offering the money - people are going to report EVERYONE they know with a gun. They won't bother to even think about if it is a legal gun or not. Then you have cops coming to your door for no reason other than having a legal firearm. That is a huge problem.

Actually this is how the story goes:

A farmer feeling desperate due to financial pressures went and robbed a bank. He was caught and went to jail, but the money was never found.

His wife wrote him a letter berating him for doing such a stupid thing and now she was all alone and how was she supposed to turn over the field to plant the crops, and so on and so forth.

He wrote back, “Whatever you do, don’t turn over the fields, that’s where I buried the money."

Wife wrote back, “The police came here and dug up all the fields!” What going on? What should I do?”

    He responded, “Plant potatoes.” :)

I have this from reliable sources, really.
