Trouble with CZ Shadow 2 Kadet

I have begun to have problems with the Kadet for my Shadow 2. When the second round gets lodged just starting into the chamber but apparently starts at too sharp of angle and jams.
I thought the problem was the barrel but after changing to the treaded barrel the second round did the same thing. That gives me the indication that it may be the polymer mags. And sure enough the second mag was not doing it but after shooting several rounds it started with it also. I have done extensive cleaning but it still happens with the second round, making for a loss of confidence in CZs Kadet kit.

Is there excessive vertical play in the magazine fit?
No, the magazine is locked in place with no play in any direction.
It appears that the lips have worn enough that they allow the round to move up at too high of an angle and the round hits the chamber too sharp of angle to allow it to enter, and jams sideways. The round is bent from the force of the slide trying to push it into the chamber.
I only have 2,150 rounds through each magazine when this started. I have two magazines and have kept track of the round count through each. I had marked them " P" and "S" for primary and secondary when I first got them. I have done this with all the magazines that I have to keep track of how may rounds run through them. These are the first polymer mags that I have had any trouble with. And I have two Polymer P mags for my AR that have run over 6,000 each and still function properly.
A quick online search reveals that you aren't alone. Try cleaning the mags internally if you haven't done so. I would order at least a couple new mags.

What are you using for ammo?
I shoot primarily is CCI 40 gr. Standard velocity, Remington Golden 40 gr. and 36 gr, and Thunderbolts, and Federal Auto Match 40 gr.
I was making a very detailed cleaning and inspection this morning and discovered that the coating on the slide has chiped away on the bolt face.

FWIW... over 2000 rounds through these mags may be above their limit. Mags are generally considered a consumable.

Sure looks like that could create issues like you are describing. Time to talk to the manufacturer I think.

Sorry to hear about your issue!
IMO the answer is New High-Quality Magazines. I know they are not the least expensive, but I would buy at least one original CZ Mag for diagnoses purposes.
New Mags and IMO, that does not include P-Mags. There will be no more P-Mags at my house.
Bought two new 9 mm Model17 mags two months ago and they were Crap to say the least! I could hardly get over 10 rounds in the 17 round mags.
But as the others have said. Magazines will only last so long and especially polymer mags,
You mentioned the angle of the rounds in the top of the mag being at seemingly a sharper tilt up. That is a definite sign that the Mag Lips are out of specification. And with that many rounds as you stated makes perfect sense of being worn out.
Good luck on solving your issue.

Contacted CZ, and they agreed that the coating chipping is an issue that more that likely is the cause of the jams. I filed a warranty claim, will see what action they take.

Just wondering...
Why would they coat the breech face when it wears away after time?
I believe that most firearms do not have a coating (except for oil.)

I was the same way, I could see treating it the way AR receivers are nitrated but this is more like cerakote it is just flaking off. Also the other 22Lr hand guns that have an aluminum or pot metal slides have a steal insert for the bolt face, extractor, and firing pin. I am a bit disappointed, this is not very good design.
I was looking at the coating that was left on the bolt face and it was loose. I took a small chisel and got underneath it, and the rest of it came off. I then polished the bolt face and took off to the range. To my surprise the Kadet functioned with any ammo that I fed it, CCI 40 gr. hp Subsonic, Remington Golden and Thunderbolts, Federal Range, and Target.
I still am disappointed that type of coating was put on the bolt face.

I have to date shot 1,000 rounds since making the adjustment to the bolt face. I have shot CCI 40 gr.HP subsonic, Federal Auto Match & Target, Remington Golden HP, & Thunderbolts, with no further problems.
Interesting that I have not had any further information from CZ. I believe that the fact the CZ has discontinued the Kadet for the Shadow 2 may indicate they have other plans.

My Kadet will only work with Winchester MINI MAX.
