Has anyone else been watching it?

This show is fairly new, maybe 2 or 3 weeks old. It is on the Military Channel and is hosted by Will Willis, former Airforce Para Rescueman, and during this show Will takes a weapon (Past episodes were the M1 Garand, M1A1 Thompson SMG, Colt 1911 .45, and the M777 Howitzer.) and traces the history leading to the weapon, and which changes and advances the weapon led to.

I was just watching the episode about the M777 Howitzer. Will was at Fort Sills (spelling?) and something caught me...Will asked him if the rifling in the barrel was sustained or developing (maintaining the same twist all the way through or progressively tightening) and the Officer corrected him by saying, "That may look like rifling, but in the artillery world, that's Lands and Grooves."

Correct me if I am wrong...but aren't lands and grooves the recesses and high points left in the barrel after the process of rifling? lol

First, I love the show. It is much better than any of that reality gun show crap they have been shoving down our throughts. :D

Second, you are correct. Grooves are, well they're grooves. They are the low points. Lands are the high points. Lands and grooves are rifling and the terms can be used interchangeably.

I had the chance to see the show about the 1911 and the show of the Garand.

Some information was not correct (IIRC) in both shows.

I was so disappointed to the point that I could miss the upcoming shows.

I'd have to agree with you dan_fl I think my favorite "gun show" to date is "Tales of the Gun" it used to be shown on history channel.

that or Lock n load with R. Lee Ermey

I have watched them all and the Garand was the worst. Really you are in the middle of a combat zone with rifles, machine guns, mortars, tanks, howitzers, yelling screaming, and people dying and you are going to stop shooting and listen for the tiny PING with a garand ejects the clip out. I don't think so chuck.... That was a major face palm.

I can only imagine but in the fog of war and the chaos of battle, details could make the difference.

OKAY....watching Triggers tonight...The episode was on the AK-47...To show its effectiveness the re-enacted SEAL team 6's mission to capture Bin Laden....

at the end of clearing the house, they broke through the door and showed Bin Laden standing there unarmed with his defenseless daughter and one of his lives, and the SEAL walked right up and put two shots in the head from about 5 feet away...

kinda made me look like thugs...
