My favorite rifle of all is my .53 Hawken. It is one of several that I have built, this one from parts from Track of the Wolf. It is as correct as it was possible for me to make it. It has accounted for numerous critters and a couple of vermin. Shooting pie plates on the 200 yard line at the Tucumcari, New Mexico gun range. Ute Lake Gun Club shoot. Big Whitetail buck taken on my creek with prb. Another Whitetail buck taken right at 200 yards. This buck scored 174. Its grimy! This is after a shoot at the NRA Whittington Center at Raton, New Mexico. This was shot on the big bore pistol silhouette range, pigs at 100 and rams at 200. These three stocks are 5/8 scale, and will get 38 cal barrels for my grandsons. The top is fancy walnut and will become a full stock Hawken, the center is curly ash and will become a Southern mountain rifle, and the bottom is curly maple and will become a half stock Vincent. And, I get to blood them all.
