Well, I'm back after my mini hiatus. I have improved the number of my household by one, strapping young lad (Thank you. Thank you very much) Aside from the arrival of my new little tax deduction, I began an intriguing enterprise last week that began with a craigslist ad from a man with a brand new, in the box duo core laptop with all the high end specs (I won't go into details) looking to trade said laptop for an XBox 360.

So, I looked up the laptop and it was worth $1400. Easy math. $300 Xbox 360 with games and extras to make it worth about $400 for a laptop worth three times as much. After a thorough inspection of the laptop I made this epic trade.

Okay, I never really wanted a laptop and I really liked my Xbox, but I was a winner. A winner with a laptop I didn't want. Back to craigslist for me!

So I list the new laptop and get a bazillion offers of insanely stupid people offering massages, and low ball cash offers of $300 and the like, when the golden offer came through.

My unwanted laptop for two pistols, a Springfield Armory 1911A1 and a Baby Desert Eagle .40 cal (pics forthcoming). Can you did that? I'm sporting wood as I write this.

You must have my brother's luck. I could hunt all day for something like that and never find it, and he'd call me an hour later to tell me he traded a broken axe handle and a bag of pocket lint for it.

    Good find and good deal!

Bah I hate that name. I'd rather call it a Jericho 941.

But good trade then my man. Polymer or fully metal?

    I love the Jericho.

Yeah, that's the gun. And I agree about the name. It's the fully metal one. Not sure its true value, but it feels fantastic.

Are those hard to find? It needs a good re-bluing, but I felt pretty good about the trade.

Does it say Baby Eagle or Jericho 941 on it?

And yeah I hate the name because I get Deagle idiots who think it's cool because it has the eagle name in it....they tell me in a smaller Deagle....which it is not....was only named that for well to sell it more.

To me Jericho 941 is a cool name.

And it's the same gun Spike from Cowboy Bebop uses!

So basically an X-Box for two pistols. Kinda like a gun buyback program in reverse. Well done, sir.

    Best. Week. Ever. Thank you.

Grazie. Just doing my small part to keep the 2A alive and well.... Wait, you just gave me an idea... Why don't we(firearmstalk) pool some dough and buy us a $hit ton of XBox 360s and go into America's ghettos and trade for guns. We'd be taking weapons out of the hood and putting them in the hands of law abiding Americans who love the 2A.

Except the part where the inner city youth use their weapons to relieve us of our Xbox's.... LOL

I mean, they got 2 grenades out of Compton. I am not yet prepared for that kind of house to house battle, especially over an Xbox...LOL

Ha. It's not like these guys here are unfamiliar with the boomstick. And unlike the gang bangers, most of us probably know how to hold a handgun upright ;)

Has anyone seen the Baby Eagle 2?

    My god....

A .45 Model with a rail underneath...etc etc. Just an improved Jericho 941

    10 + 1 Capacity...with polygonal rifling.

615 bucks? My god....you save about 400 bucks if you were planning on a 1911...

And basically the Jericho 941 is just an improved 1911 since this is how it goes

Browning made 1911....Browning died making Browning High Power.

New CZ 75 pistol is based off of Browning High Power but made better.

Jericho is based off CZ 75

So basically you are getting a modern 1911 with polygonal rifling..

    I'm sold.

That is true, I would bet on our guys being able to hold their own, and then some.

    However, Consider This:

Custer had trained troops going against "untrained savages" who merely knew the land better. That and being hopelessly outnumbered.

Battle of Dien Bien Phu - The French trained troops got their asses handed to them by "untrained revolutionaries" from the Vietnamese Viet Minh revolutionary forces because they knew the land better.

It took the Americans, and their Allies, over a year of fighting to usurp the Japanse from Guadalcanal because the Japanese were entrenched and knew the lay of the land better.

Sun Tzu - Art of War:

Whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted.

    BLASPHEMY!!!

If you utter those words again, I am going to pistol whip you.

Browning designed and SOLD the PATENTS to the 1911. When the Hi Power was being worked on, it wasn't completed until the Patents on the 1911 were up and the same brilliant design, that of the 1911, was copied and incorporated by a "designer" from FN named Diudonne Saive. Saive finished the Hi Power design with parts designed for and used successfully in the 1911.

Hence, the 1911 is the grandfather of all modern autoloading firearms. The Hi Power is King of the Nines, but it is not King of the Handguns.

You are hereby admonished to read The History of John Browning and that of the 1911 as your penance :D

Browning died while working on Hi-Power and was completed by other designers...but he still made the 1911 so the Hi-power to me is just the next big step after the 1911.

So basically the Jericho is a modern Hi-Power/1911 in 9mm or other cals IMO.

The 1911 is still the father though...but the 1911 is really only a 200 dollar pistol....that is DAMN GOOD but is just not worth 1000 bucks IMO.

I'll own an Operator some day....but I'm going to buy a CZ 82 and that new Jericho as my first pistols.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, once you finally experience a well tuned 1911, in it's purest form, the volume on everything else just gets turned way down....

Browning was designing for the French, on their standards, one of which was that the pistol had to hold 13 rounds. At the time Browning was on his own, and had sold the 1911 Rights to Colt. If he hadn't, many believe the Hi Power wouldn't have existed and the French actually would have had the first double stacked 9mm 1911.

It's a good gun. But the problem is that it is way overpriced for what it is.

Because of it's fame it drives the price up.

That's why I like CZ. Not very well known...so you get what you pay for.
