I asked this in the rifle forum already and I want to ask it here as well...

What are the top 10 handguns? Of course, there isn't one right answer but I'm interested in finding out what the majority thinks.

I have a little web-store, where I sell gun cleaning and repair mats for specific handguns and rifles and I'm about to do another big production run and want to include more models. So, what should I include?

At least it's based on Sam's work and not some Belgium abortion of of the same.

If I had to take a lesser pistol, it would be a Sig 226 or a variant thereof.

    Highly subjective but here goes:

    1. Sig P220 (and its compact brother the P245/220 Compact)- as reliable and accurate as they come. Too bad they only ship with one magazine now.

    2. CZ-75 series- great ergonomics, reliability and accuracy. Hard to find a CZ owner who is not happy with their pistol.

    3. SW-4500 series (I like the 4516 or 4513TSW). Boringly reliable, short trigger reset, accurate and the all steel models are heavy enough to hit someone if you are out of ammo (ie- 4506).

    4. Springfield Armory Milspec .45- a great basic .45 that is good to shoot right out of the box, or as a base for building a higher end pistol.

    5. Glock 19- simple, light, reliable and high capacity, and can be had for a reasonable price. Hard to go wrong with the 19.

    6. SW 6906- a great carry 9mm pistol. Light and small enough for everyday concealment and more accurate than a compact has a right to be.

    7. HK-USP compacts- (I have the .45). Despite the high price and terrible double action trigger they have quite a loyal following and are well known for reliability and ease of carry.

Whoops- lunch time is over and I have to end here. I'm sure otherw will chime in with their favorites.

    best wishes- oldandslow

So you already have: AR-15, AK-47, Glock, XD, XD(m), Sig, Colt 1911....
    What about:
CZ75, Browning HP, Colt Python/King Cobra, S&W Model 10 or Model 29, Walther PPK, H&K USP Mark23 SOCOM, Remington 870, Beretta 92FS, Desert Eagle, S&W M&P, Taurus Ragin Bull series, S&W .500..... there's many fans of all those around to justify the production of mats for those models.

ALL 9mm. Interesting. I'm a fan of the caliber but lately I've been eying some .40 cal handguns - after I get those I'm sure I'll want .45 and so on :)

That list is not my personal list, per se.

I am trying to guess which models are the most popular among people these days. That list was in the interest of your GunMat business.

P.S. I do like the 9mm. I believe it's under rated these days.

Top 10 most popular handguns (or handgun styles?)

I don't know for sure, but I'd say the 1911s, the Beretta/Taurus 92s, perhaps the Taurus 24/7, and the flagship full-sized pistols from other companies like Glock, Sig, CZ, Springfield, Para Ordinance, etc.

And then maybe the Ruger MKIII, Beretta Neos, and Browning Buckmark for .22 pistols?

    Taurus 99 (better than Beretta)

I have the urge to point out that most of these lists seem to be based on how revolutionary the firearm is not so much the performance because honestly... the original colt 1911 and even the A1 arent that amazing, they were for their time but heres my list for handguns purely based on performance.

    1. The springfield XD, it has out shot pretty much every handgun for the last two years.
    2. The H&K P7, small, incredibly accurate for its small barrel, and has little to no jamming issues.
    3. Almost every glock ever made namely the 17, 19, 22, and 26. never jam great accuracy, safe, high capacity. ive only ever had one jam on me and it was because the owner never took care of it.
    4. The kimber Eclipse Custom II. Like all Kimbers fantastic, accurate, well built. only problem is sometimes they're stingy when it comes to cheap ammo.
    5. Sig P220, wow... great gun, lots of power, never had a problem with it.
    6. Beretta 92, revolutionary and it still stands it's ground (personally like PXstorm more but whatever)

There are more fantastic handguns out there but those are the few that i honestly think are the best performing guns today.

    Here's my list:

    1) Colt 1911 .45
    2) USP .45
    3) Glock 17 9mm
    4) Taurus PT92 9mm
    5) SIG Sauer P226 9mm
    6) Smith & Wesson 629 .44 Magnum
    7) Colt Python .357 Magnum
    8) Rock Island Armory 1911 .45
    9) Para Ordinance 1911 .45
    10) Desert Eagle .44 Magnum

Just a little list of some of the ones I like. I don't know too much about guns as I'm pretty new to them so don't ridicule me for this. As you can tell, I'm a 1911 fan. Tell me what you think, if you have any changes or suggestions.
