    I’ve been reading about aftermarket bushings, trigger jobs, etc. Basically it seems to come down to this:

    Tighter tolerances = higher accuracy but lower reliability in dirty environments;
    Looser tolerances = higher reliability in dirty environments but lower accuracy.

    Yes? No?

    Pretty much.........

    With a tighter fit there's no room for any debris.

    You would be correct. That's why the AK 47 and variants work so well in bad conditions, because of the loose(r) tolerances.
