I know that many people say the downside to a C&R tokarev is that the add-on safety sucks. Has anyone ever though of buying a used tokarev frame with no safety hole for like $25 online. How east would it be to strip a tokarev frame and reassembly it on a different frame (all the other parts the same)?

Where do you get a frame for $25?

Also, the Tokarev is kind of like a 1911. The slide and barrel need to be hand fitted to the frame. This requires some some special hand tools. That will drive your cost up.

Switching parts in a Tok is really easy. Navy Arms used to supply .38 Super Conv. for these pistols. A small file and a Dremel were all that was needed to fit the barrels. :)

Qwiksdraw... Milsurp stuff or something like that has a few Tok frames in stock... Romanian, Chinese (Chinese may be out of stock), and even Russian frames

The Tokarev TT-33 and clones are like all Russian firearms a copy. The "Reds" copied the Browning FN Modl. of 1903. The TT-33 is a very rugged hand gun firing the 7.62X25 cartridge. The "Reds" copied the Mauser 7.63X25 "Broom Handle" cartridge as well.
I have tried to destroy the TT-33 by over loading and abusing the Hell out of them. It is damn near impossible.

Actually, the Tokarav is more like a Colt's Model 1903 than a Model 1911. Either way, the Russians "borrowed" from the best!
