Every week I write to my 3 legislators. I urge you all to do the same. Below is this weeks letter. Feel free to use any part of it.

I wish to vehemently express my strong opposition to any further gun control legislation of any kind. Responsible gun owners will not be dragged down this slippery slope. Tens of millions of us will steadfastly refuse to obey any new gun control legislation, any and all penalties notwithstanding. And so would the criminals. For the sake of all, I sincerely hope you are correctly sensing the mood of the nation concerning this issue. We all want to curb violence. But more gun control laws will not contribute one iota to that end. There can be no compromise on this.

The vast majority of gun deaths occur in, certain metropolitan areas, in gun free zones, or are among criminals such as gang bangers. Chicago is a prime example. With some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, Chicago had over 500 gun deaths and over 2500 people shot in 2012. Do you honestly believe that more gun control laws or banning certain weapons and high capacity magazines will change this? And, the vast majority of criminals do not buy their weapons at gun shows. Criminals will always be able to get any gun they want, just as they can get any drugs they want. They simply don't obey the law.

Our founding fathers knew exactly and precisely why they adopted the 2nd Amendment, which confers no rights, but merely affirms our unalienable right to self defense, even from our own government. Thomas Jefferson said it best. "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." The 2nd amendment says I have an unalienable right to self protection, even from my own government. And the best self defense weapons is one of high capacity, be it a long gun or a pistol.

President Obama's threat to use executive action to circumvent the legislative process on gun control is tyrannical and abhorrent. We have a duty and a responsibility to openly defy any such executive action. And we're fully prepared to do so. I strongly suggest you advise the President to refrain from any such executive action. The legislative process is one thing, but you can't even begin to envision the chaos that would ensue by executive action. What happened at Waco would pale in comparison. But don't take my word on this. Just visit any of the hundreds of internet gun forums, or watch some of the 345,000 youtube gun control videos and read the comments. Our nation is dangerously close to a social uprising.

The Feinstein bill, which covers the vast majority of firearms already in the hands of responsible, law abiding citizens, goes well beyond the National Firearms Act of 1934, and the 1994 assault weapons ban. The fingerprinting of owners and the registration of a vast majority of weapons, violates the intent of the Second Amendment. For obvious 2nd Amendment reasons, my government has no business knowing what weapons I may have. This is a glaring manifestation of an overreaching and out of control government. This is precisely the very thing our founding fathers feared and wished to prevent. Hence the 2nd Amendment.

I strong urge you to vehemently oppose any further gun controls of any kind. And if such legislation is enacted, I strongly urge you to publicly decry such legislation as unconstitutional and join us in openly defying it.

In closing, let me say this. I would be the first to surrender my guns if I thought doing so would save even one life. But even if every responsible gun owner in America surrendered their weapons, violent crime would not go down one iota, because the criminals and evil doers will still or be able to very easily get guns, and other instruments to harm us. To say that more "reasonable gun laws" are but one of many remedies to consider is just not correct, as they will not contribute one iota to the results we all desire. There are remedies to mitigate violence. More gun control is not among them. Find another way.

Respectfully submitted,
