I have an old shotgun, one of very little monetary value and no sentimental value either; however, I was wanting to get it shooting again just because. It is a side x side and the ends of the barrels are a bit dinged up, no sharp edges, just not truly round anymore. I'm sure it'd pass the wad, but I'd like to true them up - who has a trick for that?

I tried a pipe expander to do that ....once. Ended up with a "blunderbuss" muzzle that was still sorta/kinda oval on one side. That was on a single-barrel p.o.s. 12 gauge someone'd given me. Don't do that.

Just how old is it? I might let a competent gunsmith look it over before I fired it.

I have used a brass plumb bob and a very small hammer in the past , the teardrop shape helps .
This only works on the very edge of the barrels, and you must be very careful and gentle.
