What would be the best way to paint over the wood on the stock and slide on my Moss 500? I've painted 2 cars and 3 guitars but I'm kinda iffy on this. The finish feels kinda matte on the slide so I don't think I would need to sand with a heavy grit but the detail for the grip looks really nice and I don't wanna ruin it. The stock is a very pretty finish too but, altogether, I don't wanna end up spending upwards of $40 for replacement parts and I also don't want 2 parts that will just collect dust in my odds and ends bin, ya know?

Painting a stock isn't really any different than painting a guitar, the same techniques are used. Just be careful that you don't get the paint too thick on the grip checkering.

Be sure to rough up the surfaces slightly so that the paint will have something to better adhere to.

The checkering is exactly what I was iffy about. The stock is no problem.
