My father has a Henry Golden Boy 22 mag and it feels and looks so good! I especially like how smooth the lever action is on it. So anyways, I really want one of my own Henry rifles now, but I don't know which one I should get. Im pretty sure I want a Golden Boy although I don't know which one. Any suggestions on what caliber or gun I should get? 22 lr, 22 mag, 17 hmr?

Not sure what to suggest with ammo availability the way it is. But it's bound to straighten out sometime. 22LR is usually really cheap to shoot and should be good enough for small varmints if that applies for you. Also very good for introducing young'uns to the joy of sight pictures!

I kick myself for passing on a .17 hmr a few years ago because now..that is the only on demand rimfire ammo in my area...Henry is a very nice looking rifle...would be a good addition to the collection for sure!

I have a 22lr Henry. Its a superb rifle. A friend has a Henry Varmit Express 17hmr and its a nice rifle as well. Im just not a big fan of the HMR. I would go with 22mag or 22lr. but that's me.

I've had mine for about a month and a half. It's a .22 LR and just as the manual says, it will digest shorts and longs (mixed or alone) without a hiccup. Hickock45 does a great review of the rifle on Youtube. I had to go to work overseas about a week after I bought it and I'm really missing that sweet little rifle. I recently found out that you can order a custom engraved receiver cover from Henry. Now that would be an excellent gift to a gun enthusiast.

Purchased a Henry 22 from Wal-Mart. Marked on barrel 22 S/L/LR. Does wince a little on shorts, they do not always line up smoothly, but most times they feed fine.

The walnut is as good as any gun I have owned. The butt plate seam, is so well done, it is perfect. The whole gun looks like it was made by people 30 years ago, when quality mattered.

Get it in 22lr. At least in my area I have not trouble finding 22shorts. Get the cb shorts and its super quiet. I have a backstop I built in my basement and with the cb shorts or longs its quiet enough to shoot with out ears.

Thank you everyone for the insight. I have another question regarding the Henry rifles. They have on their website a few versions of engraved guns and some of them are 1 of 1000. I have found a few of them on the internet and one at a local gun shop as well. I am confused though, because the Henry website says there is a Golden Boy Deluxe Engraved II and it comes in 22 lr/s. My first question is, was there a Golden Boy Deluxe Engraved I? And the particular rifle that is at my local gun shop is a 22 mag engraved gun, but it is not shown on the Henry website. So do any of you think that any of these would be good investments? I mean I understand maybe not in my lifetime, but my great grandchildren might get to see benefit from a few guns that were 1 of 1000. I also found a Henry Big Boy Deluxe II for sale that is a 357 mag/38 special. The Henry website says that they are also calibered in 44 mag/sp, and 45 colt. So does that mean that there are 1000 guns of each caliber or is there 1000 guns of all three of those calibers all together in the Big Boy version? Anyways, I hope someone might have some insight about my questions. Thank you in advance.

I recieved a Herny golden boy for my 11th bday( I'm 15). It's engraved with my name, birthday, and a short message from my Uncle. It's fairly accurate as far as I can tell(Not really used to the buckhorn irons). I don't shoot it much though, it looks too good...... :)

I love my .22lr. Easy to use same ammo as my other .22's.

I shoot mind with relative frequency, but always concerned about the 'bling'!
Wipe it off frequently....you can explain that it is necessary to the family...after a while they won't think a thing about you sitting on the couch caressing her....mmmmm.
    What happened...where am I?

I got a Goldenboy 22lr for Christmas last year. It's an amazing gun! Incredibly smooth and well made. I'd recommend the 22LR as its cheaper to shoot and you can also shoot shorts and CBs as well.

I'm getting a Golden Boy soon. I just got the Big Boy .44 two days ago. After handling it this weekend, I went to the shop and he is holding a Big Boy .357 and a Mares Leg in either .357 or .44 for me as well. This is going to be quite the Henry Collection!

I like it so much more than my Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited.
