    I am doing some thinking about selling my Rem 700 SPS Varmint .223.

    My reasoning... I have an AR-15 that does what I need in .223 at the ranges I shoot, so I really don't "need" a .223 bolt gun.

    My thoughts... What I don't have is a larger caliber rifle for all around larger game hunting. I am thinking about a good 30-06 bolt gun of some kind. The reason for the 30-06... my brother gave me dies, brass, bullets and primers for 30-06... so with that said, I am all set to reload. I load for .223, 45 ACP, .and 38/.357 already... so I am pretty experienced reloader.

    I do have some old military guns and shotguns, but would like something with some decent accuracy to make a good clean kill.

    Any thoughts?:confused:

    I'm in a similar situation, I have a Remington 700 SPS tactical 308, but I'm saving up for a Springfield M1A... The M1A will kind of render the 700 useless except for hunting and I'm not about to carry a varmint profile rifle around for deer.

    So I'll probably also buy a hunting rifle in 30-06, I have looked at the Marlin XL7s and they are very nice, easy on the wallet too, well comparatively anyway.

    M1A = 1MOA......SPS TAC = Sub 1MOA....hmmmm...the M1A renders the precision rifle useless...:confused:

    If you really don't want your 700/.308, you can ship it to me and I'll give it a good home on my rack !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    For my intended purposes anyway, I bought the 700 as a short to mid range (200-600 yard) rifle.

    By the time I'm done with all the upgrades I'm planning on, I'll be above the price of the M1A. I can still see use for the 700, but with my paycheck I'm not sure I can have both :eek: and the M1A is more versatile.

    I'll keep the 700 if funds permit, "useless" was probably not the best word to use, more like replaced.

    I wouldn't get rid of my bolt action 223,and I have several AR style weapons in that caliber.None come remotely close to the accuracy of the bolt action gun.

    I'd just keep it and save up some spare cash for a larger caliber rifle.

    Save up. Most guns I've sold in the past I now regret.
