What's the range report on it??
Post 13 was the report. I copy and paste it here too.
I ran 50 Remington UMC 130 grain though it. 1st mag i did 9 quick shots on paper to where it hits a 15 yards. I had about 6 inch group. The 10th round i took my time and nailed the bulls eye. After that i popped cans out to 35 yards. Im really impressed with it being a GI model. Definitely a keeper.
Sounds like fun! I've been a 38 Super fan since 1970 or so. Started loading for it many moons ago. Had mostly Colts, but a Kimber and STI too.
BTW, does your gun have an integrally ramped barrel, or the traditional unramped Colt type barrel? I've used both.
Only have two Supers now, one fitted with an extra barrel in 9MM. The factory GECO is excellent in my guns, it averages ~1350 FPS in a 5" barrel, with very good accuracy and flawless reliability. Reloads with jacketed bullets can easily exceed that if desired. Possibly contrary to popular opinion, chronographing indicates that some 38S ammunition is not ballistically superior to 9X19MM. Enjoy that new Super.
It has the feed ramp on the barrel. One of my Ria 9mm 1911's does too and the other does not.
I think the ramped barrels are a good thing with any of these higher pressure cartridges.
Yes some extra steel that way. My 10mm has a ramped bull barrel. I did break the lug on it though. Ria gave me a new barrel. And did some refitting.
