    .....one you walk away from. Hard to imagine then that this was a good one. Every man survived the crash and a night in the arctic.

    The c-54, tail # 2 72616 was flying from Thule, Greenland (the aircraft was actually stationed at Pepperell AFB, Newfoundland) to Alert base at the northern end of Ellsmere Island. A regular supply run for the aircraft.

    The accident happened on 10 October 1952. It so happens that my youngest granddaughter was born on 10 October 2012.
    Sixty years to the day of her great grandfathers crash.
    My father was 24 years old then. I wouldn't come along for another 2 years.

    I personally find smoking and grilling a bit of a painful experience..! I filled my grill with my best smoke , fired the old grill up , got it going real good and come necked to suck on on coner.!

    (oooooouch). ..! Do not try this....!

    I got blistered on me lips....! Eeeeek..!

    Looks like a heck of a crash glad your dad was alright.
