In a time when you read about kids getting suspended for toy guns, there is hope. My son's seventh grade class had a fund raiser for the local fire dept. they dressed as people that made a difference in history, and recited a speech when you donated. My son was Ulysses Grant I also liked Jessie James, Annie Oakley poncho villa and two different Betsy tosses. My wife and had a great time. I don't think DHS was there to arrest anyone!!!!!!

Looks like there is some sense in schools still.

I wonder if any parents complained. Seeing those kids brought a smile to my face.

I've been in Grant's actual house in Galena, IL! And not the visitor center (built for him, that he never lived in a few blocks away). Very cool! I measured the roof :) the guy living there gave us a tour, and a small history lesson on the house.

My friend brought in a catalog of Airsoft guns (kind of like a BB gun) to show me which gun he was getting. Some teachers are cool, but some aren't. One of the teaches that hunts and shoots, even looked through the catalog with us. Another teacher took it and threw it in the garbage. After it happened, we checked all of the rules for our school and under prohibited objects, it said nothing about not being able to bring in a magazine that has pics of guns.

Arms were used to dispose of a lot of evil throughout history. It is good that children are learning the stories of positive gun use.
