About the only thing I can see that I'd change right away is the scope. I'd upgrade if it was me.

    Fuzzy,

I use a Remington 7mm Rem. Mag. in Texas. That is a nice rifle package you have. And I am sure that it will shoot fantastic. Savage Rifles are noted for being good shooters. I have a couple of good Savage Rifles even though my 7mm Rem Mag is a 700 CDL Remington. What type of ammunition have you got for it. I am a die hard Federal Man. But my rifle likes the Remington 150 Grain Accu-tip and has been getting phenomenal groups. So I am sticking to it for now. Shot an 8 pt. White Tail in Texas this past season at 200 yards and he dropped like a rock! I also like the 7mm Rem. Mag. because as one of the previous posts stated it is a flat shooter with very little drop at 300 yards.
Let us know how she shoots! Looks Great!

well, i used Federal 165 grain 2 days ago, and it was grouped... just, not sighted in... so i said id wait until tomorrow, which was today, to sight it in... so i went and bought some other bullets. Fusion 15o grain.. and they shot everywhere... there was no group... so i dont know if the bullets aint working with the gun, or what... but im going to get it checked and sighted in by a professional gunsmith... probably going back to Federal 165 grain... anybody ever hear of anything like that ever happening?

I would try some more federal or other name brand ammo.Since the guns new and came as a factory pkg. you may want to check and see if the mounts are tight to the receiver and the rings are snug?? Just a thought

I reload a nosler 160 grain partition on top of imr 4831 the accuracy is amazing!!

I find that mine shoots all commercial ammo very well. I also reload 140 and 160gr over IMR4831. I did have a bad experience w/ 140gr Ballistic tips, so those are for targets now. Barnes 140 and 160gr over 4831 are great for tough animals.

I shot one deer with a 150 grain nosler ballistic tip from my 7mm rem mag...Never again!! That ballistic tip basically field dressed that poor little urban goat :D

I have some 120 ballistic tips I have been playing with not for deer though, if I am cleaning it I ain't shootin' ballistic tips at it :D

I agree my 160 nosler partition over 4831 is a elk load I have shooting very tight so I just use it for my whitetail hunting also...She's sweet out past 500 yards ;)
