How is the threat to ban AR/AKs, and the approaching end of the world :)rolleyes:) effecting you locally?
Here, it's like nothing has happened. I went to Wally World earlier, and they had a few ARs behind the counter and they didn't really have any .223 left (pretty normal since they never keep much on hand), but they had plenty of Winchester 5.56. We also have a local classifieds thing on Facebook just for guns. Some of the prices an ARs and Mini 14s were high, but not really bad.
So how is all of this effecting you?

Well because of the high volume of people applying for permit her in NJ there is about a 4 month wait for one. As for gun sales my local shop said he is up to 500k in orders

Our distributor is sold out of ARs and almost everything semi-auto. They are no longer holding things. It's first come first serve. We sold out of lowers in 2 days and have one AR in stock. There is no bulk ammo to be had. Customers are asking when my next build class will be, I'm not sure we can do another as I can't get anything for lowers or parts kits. We ordered 100 ARs manufacturer direct.

I'm still at that "I need the money to buy more" stage.

I went to the LGS to pickup my new Glock, no waiting period here but they told me to come back in a day or two to see if my background check was processed. Apparently NCIS can't keep up with demand, here it normally takes 15 minutes for the background check...

Picked up my first AR yesterday. Asked about bulk ammo and my LGS told me the best he could get would be factory reloads at $350/1000. There is no bulk ammo out there according to him. I picked up 3 pmags with the gun. I'm probably going to ramp that up to atleast a dozen more. He had about 7 in stock but from the time I went in he sold atleast one more. Probably won't have any of the lower level on the shelf after this week. He's got a couple that run close to $2000. Probably take awhile to sell those.

I've used Cheaper than dirt and some other places to buy my ammo without much problems. The LGS's around here keep their inventory stocked the best that they can. I haven't run into any snags when purchasing firearms as of yet.

It's pretty much in full swing. Distributors are running dry on guns, ammo, and reloading components. JSE Surplus is local to me and they have raised their prices on essential parts like lowers, uppers, BCGs, etc. they say they are selling 135 milspec BCGs a week and can't keep up with filling backorders, much less build an inventory.

I went into the sporting goods section of our local Walmart twice this weekend. No one was waiting for ammo. There were AR-15's in the display case. It appears in this area everyone bought what they were going to buy on the weekend after Thanksgiving. In fact, guns I am interested in buying the price dropped $15. I am interested in a 22 wmr bolt action with a decent set of iron sights.

I may buy some more AR mags (30 rounders) and some more 5.56 but for now I've got all I think I need.

It's going to be interesting to see what transpires in the months ahead, and what effect it will have on our 2nd Amendment rights. I hope whatever is decided will not infringe on our rights to own handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

Just walked into JSE Surplus and the place was a madhouse. One of the guys said I had no idea how crazy its been. I bought some Pmags and noticed a familiar tag on the counter. It was from a gun I'd been lusting over for a long time. The tag said SCAR Heavy .308 $2900. I looked around and it was gone! The guy said they sold two SCAR .308s within minutes of each other, both for $2900. Those two guns have been out there for at least a year. What are the odds that two $3000 guns sell within minutes of each other today?

I am not seeing any panic buying in my area. All the items that I ordered on Black Friday weekend that got back ordered have been delivered at the Black Friday price. I ordered everything from vendors that I have been doing business with for over 20 years. Their stock is building as quickly as distributors can get the goods in their warehouse. Just last weekend (12/8) I ordered a case of 9 mm ammo. We all know that ammo is delivered on the ground. I received the ammo Friday.

I really have my doubts about all the talk of panic buying and short supplies. In NC we have a large population of gun owners. We have a large number of organized clubs. In turn, we have a lot of organized buying. No one is complaining of difficulty in receiving their orders, even clubs that are large enough to order from top level distributors.

I've got a question for the older members since I don't remember the last "AWB".

Was there this much hype about the last one? I vaguely remember the end of the last one since I was born in '84.

Will a new AWB expire like the old one did?
