Alright heres my dillema. I've had my heart set on the taurus pt92 for a while now. Well I went up to my local gun shop and they had a taurus pt917 SS 9mm for sale for a lot cheaper than I was going to get the pt92 for. I love how the pt917 felt in my hand, it felt balanced and I loved the finger grooves. The only thing is that I still like the look of the longer slide on the pt92 a lot better than the 917. I know the the pt917 has the same frame as the pt92, so I was wondering if I could put the longer rail and slide from the pt92 onto the pt917? Since they have the same frame I don't see why it would be a problem, but I havent been able to find a definite yes or no answer. I plan on calling Taurus, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this first. EDIT: I would also have to exchange the barrel too. After doing some research I've heard that the barrel sticks out over an inch when you exchange the parts from the pt92. I don't think that would be too pretty, so if this is the case, can I get the barrel machined to a length that I would like without affecting performance?
