A this a decent gun or should I shy away from it. It's at a very good price for a Taurus
My grandfather owns a taurus 809 and is happy with it but he probably hasnt put 200 rounds thru it. I on the other hand shy away from taurus. My first semi auto handgun was a 24/7 tactical in 45acp and after about 1000 rounds I had multiple problems.. The recoil spring shot the rod out it took me forever to find.. This would happen every 50 rounds. Used loctite it didnt happen as often. Then the gun kept double feeding or not feeding at all. Sent it back to taurus they sent it back saying they polished the ramp but I kept having the same problem so I traded it in.
I have a Taurus PT1911 and it is an excellent piece. I installed a set of Novak tritium night sights and am extremely pleased with it accuracy and have had no malfunctions with it as of this time,, only about 1000 to 1200 rounds have I personally put through the pistol, I got it used. Some fellows I know seem to doubt some of the early Taurus pistols but I believe I read that some mgmt. changes in the company have brought a better focus on quality issues. Like I said, my PT1911 is fine pistol in my opinion and I would try other products from them if I can. Only a few thousand more rounds will see if it holds up like the old war horse 1911, I own.
I appreciate the input guys. I just figure I can't go too wrong with a brand new Taurus for 349 bucks. Just want to be well informed before I buy anything
You know you can also get a brand new American made full size modern polymer 9mm for $389.
