I've been trying to figure out the best way to reassemble my SA 1911. I've read that using a tool to push the plunger in when seating the takedown pin is the way to go to prevent the crescent mark of shame. I have used a jeweler's flat scredriiver, but with a little slip I could make a mark worse than the scratch from sliding the pin. Is there something that works better? What do y'all use? By the way, I bought mine used with the idiot mark already there. I just don't want to make it worse. I used some 000 steel wool to see if I could make it come out, and it worked a little. Going to have to get some polish. Thanks.
