Alright...long shot here...don't think I'm cuckoo or anything but my buddy has alot of land at his house built around a small lake that was once a shale quarry.

He wants to turn it into a "compound" of sorts with some small buildings, maybe some small fighting positions like holes or trenches...he has machinery there to help...back loaders, bulldozers etc. etc.

Any help on what to build and how? I haven't seen any "Tacticool Compound" Threads...

I don't know if I like the sound of this idea but let's see what others think.

Nothing wrong with a home that is defendable and sustainable. But I am not much into the tacticool crap of any kind

Of course! I quoted "tacticool" because it IS kinda silly. We just wanted a summer project. This land is also where we go camping, fishing, and shooting. We also play paintball and airsoft back there. With biodegradable ammo of course!

Later im adding a legend to the map with some topographical lines...

This is a little silly. Seems like a good way to waste a lot of money. BUT, if you want my opinion.. I would probably just build myself a little shack out by the pond where i could keep stuff like fishing equipment, hunting gear, pelts/furs.. add a wood burning stove for winter. Could go out there and shoot then clean ur rifle in the shack.. go fishing only a short walk from it.

Essentially just make a badass man cave.

    Just my .02

Nutnfancy does some pretty cool shooting courses out in the desert. If I were you two, Id check out a few of his videos with them or even try e-mailing him...he is a super down to earth guy.

You kiddin? Ive seen a video or two of his...not really a fan.

As for a waste of money, most of the stuff is out there. Foreman trailers from when it was a quarry and stuff like that...even 2 old camping trailers.

I would love to collaborate on this project. Shoot me a PM for a personal email address. One thing to think about is ALL the uses this place will serve. You said pretty much all outdoorsy stuff it seems, like the hunting and fishing, shooting etc., etc...

Let's talk. I think I may already have a few ideas.

No...im not kidding. Im not saying you need to model your personality after him, but consider some of his videos as ideas. He has some good stuff in his videos on the M1.

Awesome idea, sounds perfect for doubling as a weekend retreat/ bugout location.

Sounds pretty awesome. I would add a cabin, ATV trails, and a few mud holes to make the perfect mans getaway.
