What kind of footwear do you wear while your training?

I would like to get some tactical boots, do they make spiffy ones for sale on the internet?

check out ebay for better prices, but i would suggest 5.11 tactical, they make great boots which are rugged and practical, converse has a similar version which i like because of the side zipper

I either wear an old pair of jungle boots that I have left over from my days in the army, or flip flops. It's important to train with the equipment that you will have when put in the situation that you're training for.

I wear the footwear for training that I would likely wear in combat. When I was a uniform officer, it was Danner (or similar) boots. As a detective, some sort of street shoe, or more likely athletic shoes. In retirement almost always athletic shoes.

I've often wondered....
How many concealed handgun carriers commonly carry while wearing rubber flip-flops, or other sandals in the summer? I don't think that makes much tactical sense, especially in a prolonged encounter where you may have to move quickly.

I don't have any special footwear for training, I just wear what I normally wear. This could be my cowboy boots, my Corcoran desert boots from my trips to the sand box, or in the winter my leather insulated boots (basic hunting boots, but good ones).

I performed advanced Jeep recovery while wearing flip flops. They usually come off pretty quick to get lost in the mud or thrown in the cab. They're less than ideal, but I'm more likely to wear them than I am to wear 'tactical' boots. It's just one of those train how you fight sort of things.

I hafta ask, what's Advanced Jeep Recovery? I've never heard of that. Is that sort of like rock climbing in a jeep?

Advanced Jeep recovery is trying to recover a Jeep from anything that requires a simple tug with a winch. It usually requires lots of shovel work, broken up with periods of winching. It also usually requires many hours of work and is almost always the outcome of sheer stupidity.

x2 for 5.11...the HRT boots are highly recommended

I used to slide around in mine like crazy. I don't think they use the industrial soles any more though.

I have nothing "Tactial" in my house. It really depends on what the range is like. My range was dug out of the side of a hill and is below the water table. Right now it is nice and dry running shoes but when it is nice a wet and muddy I wear my Red Wing boots or my Go devils in the winter. Got to keep my tootises toasty warm.
