This is the first time I've seen the movie since it game out in the 90s. Does anyone else find Travolta's character more likable than hated? "They kill and American tourist, we tactically nuke a small city. We make the cost of terrorism too high to even consider."

Why does this person not exist? That's true patriotism. Sadly, I think there's no one left guarding liberty in this country. Even the president, himself, seems an avowed enemy of the state.

agree with your thoughts on the president. Never in my lifetime did I think I would see almost purposeful destruction of everything that makes this country great.

What is more amazing to me is how ...

    1. the media is TOTALLY in bed with him and will not report any negative news about him. In fact they are helping to engineer his agenda.

    2. how most of America seems apathetic/lazy (sp?) towards anything that his administration does.

Back to your first comment about Swordfish, I am trying to remember what it was about, I know I have seen it too. Travolta is a very good actor with most of his movies being very entertaining.

    yeah, poor misunderstood freedom fighters.

I can't imagine how the folks working for the CIA must be feeling with this administration in power. I feel sorry for them.

The movie made me sick. He strapped bombs to Americans and murdered them, and even though I know its just entertainment, it was just too much for squeamish old me.

Technically, he didn't murder those people. The police did. He already warned them what taking the hostages out of range would do, and the police did it anyway.

Tango - You really need a god damn hug....

Ineff - I have always thought that was a great character. The fact that he was working for the government in an ulterior fashion, but had the best interest of the country at heart, I thought was just a great storyline.

About all I remember in that film was Halle Berry sans clothes???

Truly this country needs patriots that are not afraid of offending the tender sensibilities of the left. Sadly, when Zero is done our intelligence services will be emasculated worse than they were during Carter...

Just remember how it rebounded after Carter...Ronald Reagan appoints Bill Casey as DCI and then makes it a cabinet position.

"Anyone who impinges on America's freedom. Terrorist states, Stanley. Someone must bring their war to them. They bomb a church, we bomb ten. They hijack a plane, we take out an airport. They execute American tourists, we tactically nuke an entire city. Our job is to make terrorism so horrific that it becomes unthinkable to attack Americans."

Yep JD.......Movie quotes that should be real life, strategic adopted, agenda..........;)

The best lines in the movie. At the time it was a shock, today it is something we consider. It's a different world now.

I think it ws meant as a shock. To make such tactics seem so extreme and un-American that Travolta was seen as evil (or at least insane). Now in light of recent events it can seem perfectly sane.
