Hello everyone, I have a slight problem with my Bushmaster! It is right handed and when I shoot the ejected casings pop me in the neck and burn me:( I want to replace the upper receiver with a left ejecting one but I was told that Bushmaster does not make a left handed upper. My question is, is there some other upper receiver that can replace the current one with little problem. Thanks

Noveske, DPMS, and Stag. But if the brass is actually whacking you. you might check on having a smith do some tuning of the extractor/ ejector. Back in the day, was a major problem for my Southpaw soldiers shooting Colts, but the GM HydroDynamic M16s had a different ejection patten.

Keep in mind, if you change your ejection port, then you also need to change the bolt. the extractor and ejector on the bolt are designed to toss the brass to the right, and the bolts cannot be flipped upside down in the carrier.

You do have a brass deflector, right? I'm a leftie and my AR ejects pretty much straight out at 3 o'clock. C3 is right, let a gunsmith look at it.

Wow! Ejecting at 3 would be awesome. Mine is ejecting more like somewhere between 4-5....I never had this problem with the M16A2 while in the Marines even though I shot lefty then also..

I am a lefty also with a right hand AR. I use a brass catcher. Mainly due to me reloading but it does keep the hot brass off me. Lol.
