Just got an ad from AIM Surplus- they have Swiss K31s in stock- and have Swiss Surplus 7.5x55 ammo. A lot of other ammo as well- and bayonets for the K31.

    Interesting.
I've been wanting one of those. A friend of mine has one and I've shot it a few times. The straight bolt action is pretty neat.

Have had one for a few years. They are very accurate rifles- especially at mountain to mountain range. Ballistics on the 7.5 round are incredible- very low drag bullets. And since I work for a company HQd in Switzerland- it is protective coloration for me! ( Him? Ach! He shoots a Schmidt-Rubin- he's not like the other Americans...) Price on them IS going up, milsurp ammo still reasonable.

Someone posted in the rifle forum that J&G has them for $199, too.

They are great rifles, and supplies are supposed to be all but gone.

When the Swiss put rifles into war reserve they displace the oldest rifles remaining in reserve. Rumor is the K31's were all gone, then they found another warehouse with the last of them.

I have had one for several years now. It's pretty interesting that some will still come with the last owners name, unit and address under the butt plate. I was fortunate to have one with mine. Ron

Every one I've owned has had a troop tag. I remember the $129.00 days a few years ago. There are some out there that are matching for $189.00 still if you search.

They use .308 bullets! It is slightly below a .308 ballisticly. If you are talking GP11, it is all match grade ammo. I use Norma and graf brass for reloading. 150gr Combined technology BTSP/IMR4064 shoot about the same as GP11.

When The Swiss leave the Military, they are given the option to take their rifle, for free. These are turn ins by the families. You are in the reserves until you are 47 I beleive. Get an MP5 for free, OK.

The GP11 bullet is a unique shape, which gives us fits trying to duplicate the true GP11 ballistics. Some guys over on SwissRifles say the Berger 175 grain VLD bullet is the closest commercial bullet to the GP11 - but man, is it spendy!!

So I get by with my Hornady and Speer bullets. Shoot pretty good, but I have not gotten as tight as that wonderful GP11 yet!

Go with the Big Dog on this one. GP11 has a much better BC than most .308 bullets- re: mountain to mountain distances.
