I recently inherited a Swedish Mauser Model 1894 in 6.5x55. Beyond identifying it, I don't have a clue how to use it. Does anyone know how to release the floorplate? Or how to release the bolt for removal so I can clean it? Does it have a safety? I've read quite a bit about the gun and the round. Everything sounds great. I understand the very short barrel (18") will cost me about 230 fps, depending on the round. But does anyone have an opinion on it's accuracy? Any ideas where I could get a manual in English instead of Swedish? Thanks for your thoughts.

If you want to take a drive up here to Sacramento one of these days, I'd be happy to take you through it. It's a great rifle and even though it's a carbine it will be very accurate.

    Thanks!

Wow-- that was fast. Thank you all for the info. I'll dive in, and probably have some comments pretty quick. Again, thank you!

If you are looking for ammo, Samco Global has Swede surplus. Great for targets!!

Prvi Partizan or Igman make VG hunting ammo.
