    Hello,

I have a mosin nagant Rifle m91/30 That needs a Bolt body and I am wondering if I can just purchase a new bolt body for it. As long as the headspace checks out and the bolt fits well Im good to go, Or am I missing something?

    Thanks!

Changing the bolt on a 91/30 is not a drop in job. The bolt and receiver have to be fitted. If you can get the part locally it is ok. You can check to see if the bolt will fit or you have enough metal to make the bolt fit.

You have to take into consideration that someone has cut that receiver.

The 91/30's were all mass produced, nobody did any fitting. You are confusing the bolt head with the bolt body. The body is generally a drop in. If it locks into the head, it's fine.

What is that big square of metal that rides against the receiver to help extract the empty hulls? Every MN I have seen was fitted right there.

You can advise people on how to build a gun that requires a 2x4 to work the bolt. But I am going to say you are wrong every time. I prefer guns that don't need a scrap 2x4 as an accessory.
