Thinking about getting a suppressor from advanced armament, however, gemtech is supposed to have really good suppressors as well. Does anyone happen to have experience with both? I am planning on getting 3 different suppressors by the end of it possibly 4. One for a .22 Anschutz another for a .308 FN Patrol Bolt Rifle, A 9mm CZ 75 and an additional one for various AR 15's. So please, anyone that can enlighten me please do so without hesitancy.

    hello,
I have a gemtek hvt and love it I use it on 17,22,204,6.8,223,308,300wm. I shoot subsonic rounds in 22 and 308 all other i shoot supersonic and do not need ear protection, have fired thousands of rounds thriugh it including 308 fn semi auto have had it smoking no problems.

Glad you are back sweetie! You have been missed.

Gemtech is lagging in design lately. There is nothing wrong with their stuff, but it is an older design that isn't as effective

The new stuff from AAC ( Ti-Rant line ) has been getting very good reviews, especially with their dry cans in noise suppression.

The "Black Box" line from AAC has been promised for years now and eveyrone is still waiting on that little monster to hit the market, because it is HIGHLY anticipated.

The big boys on the market are still Brugger-Thomet, but they are a german company and you have to import them, which is still a ton of expense and paperwork.

I guess I will stick with AAC then I actually got some calibri's to go throught that Anschutz and all that you can hear is a firing pin hitting, but they are about 3 inches to the right and 6 inches low while everything else I have shot through it is dead on, so I decided to suppress it instead and thank you spit and dillinger for the WB and it's nice talking to you guys :D

birdie how do you get a 17 or 22 cal suppressor to work with a 30 cal bullet?

Same goes how you do you a 17 or 22 cal bullet to work with a 30 cal suppressor?

From all the research and looking I have done suppressors are caliber specific. IE you can't use a 45 acp suppressor on a 9mm and get any effectiveness.

I was wondering about that too, but I was thinking maybe I was just ignorant about some things...

Welcome back Samples! You do have to get a caliber specific supressor for each different caliber.

Well the hole is actually larger than .308 I have adapters that fit the 5/8 x24 threads to fit any bbl that has differant threads. As long as you shoot smaller than 30 cal works great also actually works better on smaller cal due to size and volume of can. Walt Engle of engil ballistic research told me about it saves lots of money and paperwork rather than having many cans one fits many.

We actually have five people in our little shooting circle that have them 2 have 223 cans and wish every day they would have gotten 30 cal can it is very versital, on a 22 rim fire wit sub sonic rounds the action falling gets annoying since that is all you can hear. with 308 i load lapua 200 grain subsonic bullets on 12 grains of trailboss same result only you do get a thump about like air rifle, knocks crap out of wild hog at 50 or 60 yards. they run but dont have any idea which way to go because they dont know where it came from. i have also stood down range while 30 cal supersonic rounds are fired (safely and dont do as i do) the crack and thump of round hitting are interesting sounds like someone threw firecracker under your feet but you cannot tell where it came from. thought that might interest someone.

Thanks for clearing that up Birdie. That sounds like a great set up. I'm really looking into that.

well like i say you dont buy a 6.8 can you would get a 30 cal can, you dont get a 270 can you get a 30 cal i dont think other than certain military cal their only certain cal available. you would use a 45 cal can on a 40 i havent seen a 40 cal con only 9mm and 45. so buy big shoot little, if i could find a 45 cal can that could stand up to 45-70 now that would make a great subsonc round 405 grain bullet at 1050fps which is still subsonic here wow what a beast! don't think a 45 cal handgun can could take it have to call gemtek and see.
