I'm looking for suggestions for an Ar type. 22 for at least under $450.
welcome aboard and just search or browse the site and you will find as many opinions as there are choices.
it comes down to what you are looking for.
They all pretty much handle the same as a military AR.
some are identical, some are real close, some are not so close.
do you want one that breaks down exactly like an AR or is that not important?
I have a Colt Umarex M4 Ops and love it. it looks weighs and handles almost exactly like the ones I carried in the Army.
it does not even begin to break down like an issued AR and the internal parts aren't even close. I got such a good deal i don't mind.
I have heard that CMMG makes one that is almost idetical in size, weight AND breakdown but have yet to actually see one.
good luck on your search and hope this has helped. there are soo many options out there you may be here a while reading up on them.
I like the S&W M&P 15-22. Lighter than an AR but breaks down the same way and the ergonomics are the same. It has been reliable with everything I have fed it except Velocitors. Would need a stronger recoil spring for them. It even ate stuff that would not work in my 10-22.
Thanks and yea I'm looking for one that breaks down like an m4 or another at I just would like it in 22 so it's cheaper than buying 223 rounds if in just gonna target shoot with it
And I'll to give that smith and Wesson m& p a look
Firearmsauction_org just listed a mossberg 715t under the vendors thread. Invade you're interested.
Thanks MountianMan, We allocated/purchased this 715T from our wholesaler last night after several people showed interest to us in owning one. Interestingly enough our account specialist called today and said it was a good thing we grabbed one cause they were sold out today. Good indication that this may be a great Tactical .22 to own.
Same here! Two years, two thousand rounds and never had a problem.
FWIW a Mossberg version has sat on the shelf at my LGS for 2 weeks, while the M&P's keep leaving.
I love my Colt (Walther) C 4 22cal.....It breaks down similar to the 5.56 ARs and feels similar to the military 5.56 C 4 carbines.....My son has the S&W C 4 Ops 22 cal and it is also a fine 22 cal weapon.........There are numerous accessories and magazine sizes that are readily available for either weapon.
From a few feet away you would find it hard to tell them from the 5.56 military rifles.
I highly recommend the Smith 15-22. I've had one for a couple years and very impressed with it. It's my more fun than a barrel of monkeys gun.
I would go with the m&p 15-22 or the mossberg 715 T. Both are inexpensive and fun to shoot.
