So I finally broke down and bought my first firearm. Picked up a Walther P22 - I wanted a semi-auto that I could spend time at the range with without breaking the bank on ammo. I'm a Florida resident and I've also signed up to take a Firearms safety course with live fire exercise in order to obtain my CCW (although I don't plan on carrying the P22 or anything anytime soon - I want to become far more proficient first). What else would you guys recommend a newbie do? Obviously practice, practice, practice. I'm looking for things you wish you would have known years ago when you first started shooting, etc. What about books? I've already read Ayoob's In The Gravest Extreme: The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection and thought it was fantastic. My next trip to B&N will most likely have me picking up a few more of his books, and one or two by Col. Jeff Cooper. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance guys.
