A co-worker gave me a bolt assembly out of a Rem 870 20ga said that it wouldn't extract the shell so he thought the extractor was broke. After looking it over it wasn't broke the plunger was stuck down far enough not to grab the shell. I soaked it for 2 day's in penitrating oil and nothing let soak another day got the plunger down far enough to get the extractor out but know its down far enough I can't grab it with anything. Is there any suggetions on what some of you would try or use to loosen rusted parts. I can't beleive how some people take care of there guns or should say don't. Thanks for any help.

Kroil. Best penetrating oil made. Let soak a day. work parts back and forth. Moderate heat can help- think blowdyer, not torch.

Thanks C3shooter! Were can I get kroil or do I have to order it? And that's one of the problems I can't get a hold of it to work it back and forth. This sucker is stuck! I was going to try heat but figured I should ask first and glad I did, I was thinking a small propane tourch. Don't have a blow dryer but do have a heat gun just won't hold to close.

strip the bolt. then try wacking the bolt face squarely with a brass hammer. Or slam the bolt face down on a piece of hardwood(repeat as necessary) . either way should help loosen the stuck plunger with no harm done.

I agree with soaking it in Kroil. Be SURE to remove any Kroil before you try to apply any open flame. I would soak it and then smack the bolt to unlodge it.

    OP,
I've heard good things about Kroil. FWIW, I've had great luck with PB Blaster and you can buy that right at Home Depot. Good luck with your project.
