Whilst working in New Zealand over thirty years ago, I was invited by an army major to visit their range to fire a variety of weapons. We fired 9mm browning pistol, 7.62 GIMPI general purpose machine gun. Mark 3 sterling 9mm sub machine gun, SLR FN 7.62 and 303 Bren gun light support weapon.
If you have ever fired a Bren it is strange the bloody thing kicks like a mule but jumps away from you on full auto. Never experience this with any other weapon.
You physically have to stop the thing running away from you.

I am sure others among you will have fired strange and wonderful weapons and invite examples.

I can't say I've fired anything strange. But maybe stuff the average Joe doesn't have the opportunity to fire...

    M249SAW (My all time favorite)
    M240
    M60
    M2
    AT4
    LAWS (M72? can't remember)
M40A3 (and damn was I good)
And of course the service rifle variants in 5.56, M16A2,A4,M4, SAM-R
I wish I'd have gotten to fire the A1, but the SAM-R uses the A1 trigger group, so by swapping lowers around (which we did often for the fun of it) you could arrange something I guess you could call the M16A1A4SAM-RFAF, being a SAM-R lower, with A1 trigger assembly, and A4 upper, Full Auto Fun! Frankenrifle...
    Punt gun :D

During pressure tests in the Coast Guard, aboard ship tied up to the pier, we used to fire basketballs from aerial Mark 46 Torpedo tubes. They fit perfectly... across the harbor into downtown Honolulu and bounce off of rooftops...a screamin' riot to say the least! Ofcource the Morale Officer always wondered where all the basketballs went :D

Correction: these may have been for Honeywell MK50 Torpedos....been too many years.

In some of the training for Afghanistan we did a Fam Fire of Soviet weapons, I got to fire a legit Dragunov SVD. Sadly there were so many of us goin' through I didn't really get the chance to enjoy it.

Got to shoot a DesLisle carbine. Bolt action suppressed .45 ACP- strange marriage of a SMLE to a Thompson SMG barrel. So quiet you could hear the firing pin hit the primer.

Not really all that strange or even uncommon but I rented the .500 S&W at the range once just for kicks (no pun intended). The muzzle flash was huge and kicked worse than your average mule.

I shot an original Colt 1849 pocket revolver today. It had the Colt conversion to .38 Colt centerfire cartridges. We shot black powder 38 short shells in it.
