Anyone have something good or bad about this shotgun? For $207 in my area I figured it would be a cheap HD since my hunting shotgun is too long.

It is very inexpensive and uses a proven design (Winchester model 1200/1300/120).

I was also looking at one. Some online research turned up some spot welds that were cracking on the magazine tube, if I remember correctly. I ended up with a Mossberg 500 , because it was on sale for only $50 more.

I use a Stevens to hunt with when I visit a friend in AL. It shoots as good as any of the pumps I own. His is an older gun. Several of my neighbors have Stevens shotguns. I never hear them complain about their gun and as far as I know none of them have broke.

rb522 is correct. You can go to Walmart and purchase a Mossberg 500 for $50/$60 more. If you buy either gun I would get a combo. A combo is the gun and two barrels. Most of the time you get a 28" vent rib barrel and your choice of a rifled barrel or a 18.5 security barrel. Buds Gun Shop sells the Stevens combo's. You can check the price and see what barrels are available. When you buy online if the vendor is out of state you don't have to pay sales tax. No sales tax offsets the cost of an FFL.

I know the Mossberg 500 combo will be in the $300 range. You can order a Mossberg 500 combo through Walmart. The combos are a great bargain. if you buy the barrel separately it will cost at least $75 used. The rifled barrel for a mossberg is around $150 new. I would avoid the cantilever scope mounts for either gun. I have heard a lot of complaints about cantilevers of all makes and models of shotguns. If you want to remove the scope quickly just get a saddle mount.

I've got the stevens model 320 got it for $180 few months ago. I've put about 500+ shells through it. More then half were slugs and buckshot and some heavy steel shot. Never a single issue. Great gun for a good price. Just not a lot of upgrades for it.

The gun is nice but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. But for a dedicated HD shotgun it seems to be worth the price as I have my hunting shotgun. I will update after I get an opportunity to fire it also will update on the welds.
