I don't know much about the Stevens brand, are they made good. I've found one in a 25-06 for $350. I'm just wondering if it's worth buying?

    31,

For the money you could not go wrong with the Stevens Model 200 Rifle. Basically it is simply the old style Savage design and there was nothing wrong with the older Savage design. I had a Savage Model 340 in 222 and it was exceptional accurate and my first high power rifle. If the rifle is a new rifle that is a good fair price since new ones are are going for from $350.00 to $400.00 new depending on where you buy it. But it is a good little basic rifle without all the frills! They are accurate according to all reports I have read!

So its a used rifle with a scope or new non current model? That's about what they sell for in most decent gun shops new. The stevens 200 is the same as the old savage 110 . Good rifles that other than the trigger used on the current savage rifles are as accurate as higher priced savage rifles. I have a newer 223 stevens 200 added a rifle basix trigger to it and have a great 3/4" to 1/2"moa rifle with choice ammo.

The Stevens 200 is a savage 110 with a cheap poly stock. When I dig out from under this debt, I'm buying either the Stevens or a remington 700 chambered in 300winmag. I'm leaning towards the Stevens because I don't want to go near a gunsmith. I just want a good out the box shooter that will perform with factory ammo.

I bought a new 200 in .308 about 2 years ago for a back-up. It wasn't real accurate until I ran about 100 rounds through it. I bought because it fit nice and was light. Its very dependable and accurate now. There is a very easy and safe way to lighten the trigger to a nice pull.
