Posted this in shotgun forum but thought it might belong here. I have an older Stevens 5100 double in 16 gauge, nice shooter, except the firing pin hole on one side broke out. Receiver is now basically useless. My question is will my 5100 barrels fit on a 311 receiver of the same gauge with no fitting? I would like to salvage my barrels and wood. Would try to find something with different choke and barrel length than my 5100 to be able to use both barrel sets on the 311 receiver.

The barrels still need to be fitted to play it on the safe side. It sounds like not all is lost as your receiver can still be fixed by a competent gunsmith. I'm betting I could fix it fairly easy so I know your local smith could as well.

Believe me I've tried locally and I've contacted smiths on the web as well. I think the only way to fix it would be to drill the hole and install a threaded bushing. Then you run into firing pin fit. I've had people look at but no one seems to want to do it at least at a cost that makes sense. Heck for what I could get another gun for and wind up with two sets of barrels that just seemed to make more sense. I might just wind up getting another 5100 that I know will fit. But any more ideas or opinions are more than welcome! thanks

I recently picked up the same 16 Gage and need a stock. If you are intersted in parting yours out, let me know.

Anyone know how to determine how the barells are choked?

My 16ga is circa 1949-1953 Due to the A and E in the circles. I bought it last week, broke it down completely, cleaned it and packed up my GSP and hit our local Game Area. After patterning it we stepped into the Thorns and promptly kicked up 2 Snipe and later a Woodcock. The Gun preformed great! Lightweight and comfortable to carry. I on the other hand left little to be desired........

I will be taking it Grouse hunting this coming weekend!!

My wooden stock has a crack and a good size chip in it. Not that it takes away from the safety or preformance of the gun. I would like to get a hold of a replacement.

Drop me a line if you would like to part with one.

    Thanks,
