Ladies & Gentlemen of FTF, the day has finally come...can hardly believe it after so long (and coincidentally today is the expiry of my 1 year probationary pistol licence)

    But....

    (/drumroll optional)

At last I have taken possession of my first firearm! (damn that feels weird to say). Hard for the fact to sink in really...its taken long enough. But all that myriad hoop-jumping/bureaucratic arse-kissing/form-filling has paid off...*WOOT*

Now let the gunporn begin! (ha been waiting to type that lol)

Sorry for the sizes. Kinda wish I'd brushed the lint off it first too lol

Transport-ready (inside that compulsory locked box)

Tomorrow get to see how it runs in competition (sorry no 'range report' as such just an adrenal-fuelled few minutes of mayhem!). Might be able to get to an indoor range next week too see its performance in a more controlled fashion, with some luck.

Haven't wiped this grin off my face all day. Can I say it again? Woot :D

Most excellent my friend. I love me some Smith & Wesson and my MP especially.
Can’t wait to see your first shoot. Wish I could be there.

Congratulations zhuk! It's been a long time coming.

I see 10 round mags just like we're forced to have in CA. Is there a 10 round capacity limit there?

    BTW, how are ammunition costs?

Thanks for sharing in my celebratory entry into the realms of gun ownership guys! My safe ought to have auto-open I've been taking it out so much...an infrared garage-type function would be handy heh

And no, haven't stopped grinning yet either :D

Yes CA, we are also under the 10-rnd yoke of clueless bureaucracy (and doesn't that limit make everything so much safer)

Ammo is about $20-25 for a factory 50 box of 9mm here...and therein lies the story of today's events...or what passes for a 'range report' in these parts:

First up, the gun feels great in the hand which was expected...but didn't realise how good. Seriously comfortable which makes a nice change from battling with that club USP for 1 1/2 years.

Initial stage - the popular consensus was it was a "bit of a bastard":

Sitting at 15m behind a 'desk' (in reality a large knocked-together plywood box) gun loaded on table. 2 large metal poppers with 2 usual IPSC paper targets, one on either side (minus the 'B' section as its obviously too evil to have the upper "head" part in this country)

At signal, engage all visible targets...but with weak hand only! So the first time I got to shoot had to be right-handed - ha brilliant. First two shots dropped the metals with no problem so it appears to have good accuracy, even with a suspect operator! I've rarely been able to do this so efficiently before without potentially backing up so that was a pleasant surprise...really just aim-point-shoot, like it should be. From here on in had quite a few issues, including ftfs, couple of stovepipes/lockups etc which was apparently due to using the club reloads ($15/box 50, for comparison) so have been advised to use factory ammo for the initial 500 round break-in period and it should work in with no further trouble. Serves me right for being cheap lol

Despite these subsequent issues how could I not be happy with it? Feel like I have a measure of control that was not evident with that bloody annoying HK...think its going to be an awesome gun once she settles in. Have smoothed the trigger out to a great feel now by just working it while watching TV for a few hours (more excuse to de-safe it). Quite a few people demanded a personal handling today - one guy mentioned how nice the trigger felt...poor bastard has a Glock so you have to sympathise lol

What can I say? damn I think I'm in love

ONE more, couldn't resist. Uh make that two:

Excellent question orange. Uh don't really know!

Only used reloads up til now so the whole experience of factory ammo is a complete mystery to me

Thought I'd try to get to an indoor range sometime during the next week, and so try out some brands for POA-POI purposes...see what weights might suit it @ 25m (usual 'zeroing' distance for competition, so I'm told).

Plus, I can get a head-start on the break-in process...and also because I don't think I can last until next Sat without having another go :D

If you can, try 115gr and 124gr. It may shoot better with one or the other.

Yes that is probably a good idea Don. Maybe 124gr might have a better chance of falling those larger poppers, but it should be interesting finding out in any case. Will give both a try.

    Thanks for the advice :)

Congrats!! Zhuk I know you've been ranting on about this for a long time!

Love the gun you did good for your first purchase (wish I had been that wise lol)

I have one question for ya tho.

What you gonna buy next? (now that you have the fever lol):D
