some improvement since Kahr took over but always has been the bottom of the barrel. A little more money and you will get modern 1911 enhancements over original 1911a1 design frip safety, spur hammer, poor sights.
Most features for the $$$ will be Taurus 1911, Armscorp Enhanced or KBI from the Phillipines.
1911's are more comfortable to shoot with Beaver tail grip safety, commander style hammer and sights you can see.
JMHO...all can be added on to any 1911 as $$$ become available.

I've got to say it, you can pick up a Kimber for that same price. I've never had a problem with mine, it is dead, nuts accurate and is a lot of fun to shoot. It reliably feeds personal defense hollow points. It was probably the best $700 that I've ever spent. The only thing that I would do to it is add 2 color night sights and have it coated with Wilson's Armor Tuff.
