Springfield or Dan Wesson for new purchase?

    I'm trying to decide between the twwo brands but just don't know as much about the Dan Wesson as the Springfield. Are there any reasons to pick one against the other or are they pretty much equal?

    I only have Springers but I've never heard anything bad about the Dan Wesson's so I'd say it's down to which you like the best...

    I haven't owned a Dan Wesson yet, but they seem to be built tighter than the Springfields.

    I have a Springer 1911 and a Dan Wesson revolver. The Dan Wesson company has been bought and sold a few times, and there were periods when parts and service were hard to come by. That's not been a problem for years now, but some people still remember hearing bad things about the company.

    Keep in mind.... I've never heard anybody complain about the GUNS, just the company.... and those issues seem to be solved.

    In other words... Either of the two are fine... let the features and price of the gun decide.

    FWIW, I've heard that Dan Wesson pistols can be spotty in quality. I have no idea if it's actually true. I own a Springfield 1911. But I have to tell you, I sure like the looks of that Dan Wesson Bobtail. ;)

    I own a SA loaded but I would buy the DW IF the two were placed head-to-head. By my own observation, I believe the DW is better fit weapon.
