well i had been looking for another 40s-w to add back into the collection after trading the walther P99QA i had in 40. well, yesterday while at the gun store picking up a scope i had ordered a couple of months ago. the owner showed me a SA XDm40 he had just taken in trade that morning. has been shot very little, very ggod condition, almost perfect and is complete with the XD gear system. what i had narrowed my choices down to for replacement, were: another Walther P99, FNX40, maybe a Glock 24. i had not even considered the SA XD series, shame on me! but the original owner must have liked them, because the gun shop owner said he owen five of them, he just wasn't a fan of the 40, and traded for another XDm in 9mm! so i ended up putting it on layaway. he sold it to me for $475 + tax. i can't wait until next weekend to go and pick it up and start shooting it.

You got a deal. Along with an excellent weapon. I have XD 40 Sub Compact. I love it and is my main carry gun. You won't be sorry.

thanks jimmy. i haven't shot it yet, but have owned several 40 caliber pistols in the past, so i think i will pleased with it. i have never owned or shot the XD series of pistols, but i have owned and shot several springfield armory 1911 45 acp pistols and have always been happy with them. i will post some pictures when i pick it up next week.

update on the SA XDm-40. i picked up the other day, and shot two mags of shells through it. i really like this pistol! this is the pistol i have been looking for in 40 caliber. i think the more i shoot it the more i will like it. i have had many 40 s-w pistols in the past that were good guns, but this XDm-40 is great. i've shot and owned the Beretta M96, the Taurus PT101, the Walther P99QA, and a Smith-Wesson 4006. this XDm is hands down the best of all of them. second would be the Walther, third would be the Smith-Wesson , fourth would be the Beretta and last the Taurus. this gun is just awesome to shoot. :D

It's my favorite range gun. As I describe it, it makes me look like a far better shooter than I am.

I love mine too. And you got a great deal. I bought mine knew when they first came out, and paid $699. But, I will say I do not regret spending the money.

thanks guys, i do really like this pistol, and it was not one i had considered when i was looking to replace my 40 s-w. my gun dealer sell these guns almost as fast as he gets them in. the day i looked at it and had him hold it for me, three other people tried to buy it that day! after looking at the MRSP on it, i felt i got a great deal on it. after shooting it, the new price would be worth it.

the more i shoot it, the more i like it. i shot about 120 rounds yesterday, but i noticed it shooting a little low and left. i may need to adjust the sights a tad.

Very doubtful that is your sights. You're probably pumping your grip.

at first i thought it might have been me, but i switched over to shooting my 9mm and i started hitting where i was aiming. but it could be me, as the gun is still new to me. i haven't shot a 40 in about two years, and maybe i need to compare the recoil to my 45 instead of the 9mm.

Sounds like you may be unconsciously fighting the recoil before it hits, expecting a larger recoil than you are actually receiving.

trigger is lot different than my 9mm too, lot lighter. could be the problem in that. need to stock up on more ammo and do some more testing.

That may be my only complaint about the gun. If I'm not careful, I can have 3 rounds down range before I know it.
