Have notice a S/A 1911 TRP S/S in like new condition, less than 75 rnds fired. for $1100. Being new to 1911s' (Old wheel gun guy) is this a fair price? Found this on a a gun auction web.

I’m looking at two .45’s, gonna buy one. Can’t decide between them.
Kimber Raptor - $1340 OTD
Springfield Armory TRP - $1460 OTD
Both feel good in the hand, love the slick finish on the SA TRP. Like the feel of of the scallops on the Kimber. Know little about either one.

I own a Kimber Pro Carry Series I, not the Series II, which has become somewhat less reliable, according to some. I have no experience with Springfield personally, but I read good things about them. I think either should be good choice, I really like my Kimber.

Thanks, I went with the TRP for $1200. Ordered it online and saved $250. The first thing to do is replace the full length guide rod, with Wilson Combat short rod and plug. Shouldn’t need a tool to field-strip. Also, the front strap checkering is a little aggresive, we’ll see. If too much, go with a wrap around grip.

Maybe this should have been opened as a new thread instead of bringing one up from 2009.
