    Hello everyone,

Hope you all had good holidays.

Can anyone recommend a good spotting scope for under $180

    Easy one.

    There aren't any. Period.

Decent spotting scopes start around 550-600 good ones about 1k and up.

Reason being is clarity at high magnification levels. Decent glass isn't cheap and good glass is damn expensive. You can get ok scopes cheap enough that work decent enough because the lenses are small. When you start talking large objective lens like in spotting scopes the complexity and cost of producing usable glass is very high.

Save up and get a good one your just wasting money if you get a low end spotter. Most redfield 3-9 scopes you find at walmart are clearer and better quality than low end 40x elcheapo spotters

Like Jon said. If however you are looking just for something that will help, Harbor Freight might have something. Just remember it's made in China, like most cheaper Spot Scopes are made. It's the quality of the Lens that costs on a Scope. Bushnell, Simmons, Redfield, BSA all might have something that could appeal to you.
Have you looked on Ebay for used? Might find a good bargain there.
