Ok two water cooled M-16's using beta mags.

First why would you be messing with a dual M-16 set up as a spec ops unit? Why not mount two SAW's or M240s on that mount? Belt feed, made to fire a lot of rounds in a short amount of time. Either are much more realiable for high rates of fire for long amounts of time. But, we are going to go old school and use water cooling on this set up even in the 40's things were going aircooled.

Oh and I have never seen a guy in the military even the Navy have a uniform as ATE THE HELL UP as that so called LT on the show. Wrinkled, no name tags, buttons unbuttoned, ect.......

Anyways why not use one right handed upper and one left handed upper? That way all the brass is flying out away from the operator and his sight line?

Where are all these OPERATORS coming from on this show?

That Navy Lt who was the armorer had no markings on his uniform. If this is really an active duty demonstration why are none of them in uniform?

I am also confused why they would use an M-16. It didn't seem to be something that was easily removable. The copper fittings for the water cooling would get caught on all kinds of things if you tried to carry that in the field. Why not choose a weapons system designed to be used for sustained fire?

It's all staged. I only watch it for entertainment value.

I don't think it is all staged but I do have to wonder why they do some of the things they do. Like the M-16 turret mount? Who the hell is stickin his head out of the truck while taking fire to change the beta mag when it is out of ammo. Same thing goes for the dual boat mount?

The M-16 is not made to fire like a SAW or 240, for m60.

if you REALLY want to adapt a m16 to a squad sustained fire role that wasnt designed to be such there are conversions to make an AR or M16 belt fed. a bea mag wouldnt be first choice in that function. big clumsy to reload.

real military would have easy access to M-60's SAW etc. dual or quad mount if your that silly. hell a mk19 woulda been a way more effective choice since it was designed explicitly from the get go as a river boat support weapon in vietnam.

seriously tho how can peeps that work around selectfire and semi auto weapons all the time never have seen a gas tube go red?? ive got my colt sp1 semi-auto to do that just screwing around. its when it goes white you gotta worry....

i was watching that episode and it did strike me as all kinds of pointless. i switched it over to south park re-runs on comedy central.

Seems kinda pointless to me also. Its mostly staged. The customers/orders are probably real, but they stage the encounters to make better TV.

When they initially fired the M-16 with the 3 - 100 round mags and tested the heat index. Cook a steak and then some on it! Then later they used a coil copper tubes to cool it and the drop in temperature.

Interesting; but, my question like the everyone else is why?

Maybe, try something new with the M-16. There was no protection from enemy fire, your rear is completely exposed in a 360 degree.

Also, looking at the LT uniform, could they have been militia? Just a thought!

Why would you make a $300, single shot .410 zip-gun to kill alligators when Taurus already makes the Judge, a five shot revolver??? And I've seen other Saiga shotgun conversions for 3-gun which I like better.

I like the guns aspect of the show, but I don't care for Will. From the viewers perspective he believes he knows more about guns than anyone on the planet.
He's the supreme judge of who should own a gun, AND if you want to work there you have to prove yourself to him by cleaning toilets and picking up dog poo first. WTH??????

Yeah the dog crap thing I would be like they are not my dogs they are your mangy mutts you can't clean the hell up after your own dogs then well maybe you shouldn't own them.

I guess the show would have been boring to be filmed in a shop that just works. No drama just work. Like Richards rifles, Kelbly's ect.....

I'm in the Navy and serve in what's known as the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command and have worked w/ the Riverine Squadrons (RIVRON). I can tell you for a fact that the entire notion of them slapping dual M16's on a RIVRON patrol craft isn't gonna happen! Why would you do that when the SOC-R already has GAU-17 minigun's? Besides the mini-gun the armament includes Mk19, M240, and M2. Even the port patrol craft range from M240's to M2's and even Mk19's on the Sea Arks.

As someone else stated..."Why?" Just makes for good television I guess.

As for "Lt. Roberts"...yeah, not even close. The uniform was completely hosed. While the woodland BDU, designated "CUU" or Camouflage Utility Uniform, was correct it was completely jacked up. The undershirt was the wrong color, the buttons weren't buttoned, the sleeves weren't rolled correctly (we do it Marine style), the boots weren't correct (black leather instead of desert tan) and that damn Hitler mustache! Come on!

BTW, the woodland BDU is being replaced by the NWU Type 3 this year for CONUS.

I agree with you, this show is hurting the Gun culture.
I don't watch it all the time, but when I hear from the guys at work that Will did something stupid again I have to look it up online. Last thing the guys told me about was the "Ma Duce" build he did. I looked it up & sure enough all the time they were building they were saying "if it is not right it will blow up in your face" & how did they test this new built gun? They let the employees stand up on the truck & pull the trigger!! Now if I had the smallest amount of doubt whether this was a safe gun or not, I would mount it on a small solid stand, cover it with sand bags, & pull the trigger with a string from far away on a safe range.
But the #1 dumb thing they did, instead of taking this weapon to a safe range they took it to the swamp and not knowing or not caring about the ammo they were shooting set the swamp grass on fire using tracers & had to call out the fire dept. to get the fire put out.
    It sounds irresponsible to me!
This is what the anti-gunners see as the "experts" in the gun industry.

What bothers me about the whole show is they are almost always doing Class 3 weapons, and they don't tell the general public (viewers) that all of the weapons that they are making are not available to the the public, unless they are properly licensed/permitted.

Most people don't know about federal gun laws concerning Full auto's/ SBR's/ Silencers, etc.
The producers of this show, really drop the ball when it comes to informing the general public about the legality of owning or possessing these types of weapons.

Why do all of the B.S shows on TV have to try and dramatize every damn thing they put on?
Do they actually think that people enjoy this type of crap.Hell,if I want drama,I'll watch CNN!

Did anyone catch the last episode? It was a fold up mac11. It looked like DOG CRAP that got hit by a Dixie Chopper doing 50 mph. I would must rather have the SWEET looking magpul flash light gun myself.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D99NHb6B03s[/ame]

They welded a mac11 to 2 pieces of 50cal ammo box steel. OMG it looked like a teenager did it in his basement. Then they say well we are only into this $10 worth of ammo box. Not 5 minutes later Will is selling it to a guy for $1200. Of course then end the episode with Will driving in the woods at night shooting a 50 at wood targets at no more than 75 yards. The target when hit BLOW UP really in a big poof of smoke they blow the hell up. That is not what we need out there.

Look at this a 50 bmg is so dangerous that when you shoot a target it explodes.

Same thing came to mind, alot of toys; but, all Class 3 configuration! I watched maybe 1.5 hours of the show, enough entertainment.

Watch good drama, my dog dropping a loaf, now that is good drama!

You guys listen to this, I know the guy who shot the M16s, and he said that they had the M16s built just to see if it could be done. I'd say its actually pretty cool, and think about how avaliable the ammo and parts are for the guns, however, I do agree that they should have just used M240s or soomethin

I don't know what a coonass is but do know what an azz is. This show is full of them, the shows I have seen are full of misinformation or just stupid concepts that already have a better tool to do the job. Case in point the Thompson machine gun turned into a SWAT rifle:confused: Why??? There is no way a real police commander would think this is a better idea than what is available and owned by most PD's and the military.
