For those using Mobile devices and app which doesn't let you zoom...

- 99.9% of all guns in America are not used in violent crimes.
- 99.8% of all guns are not used in crime at all.
- Guns are used 4 times as often in self defense as in crime and 98% of the time not even fired.
- Only 1% of the time when a gun is being used in defense does a criminal take the gun from the defender.
- After guns were banned in the UK the armed robbery rate spiked over 40%, and over 44% in Australia. Now in Britain most robberies happen when people are at home (50% vs America's 30%).
- Only 4% of guns used in crimes were obtained legally.

Yeah a coworker of mine is a terrible ******* and stubborn as hell. She pointed me to this Site called National Institute of Justice. I checked it out but it completely disregards the statistics for legally vs illegally obtained which in my eyes is completely incompetent, incomplete, and purposefully misleading because of that. But hey everyone has their own agenda...

If any of you are interested in some unbiased statistics about the effects of a nation wide gun ban I found this Site to provide some great info based on Australia's experience. Very interesting, and reputable sources also cited.

Just gives ya some ammo to fire back at all these uninformed patheticons ranting and raving about guns.

I will quibble a bit with the info. Robberies and Burglaries are different animals. A Burglary is entering a structure with the intent to commit Theft or another Felony. Robbery is committing Theft FROM a person. You cannot commit a Robbery while no one is home. That is Burglary. Blending two crimes into one stat does not lend credence to one's argument.

If they are saying that 30% of US Burglaries are committed when someone is home. I'll call bull$hit on that. In 28+ years in LE, I would put that stat at about 1% or less.

Interesting thought. I guess legal definition is great for playing semantics. Perhaps liberties were taken with the wording. That aside you may very well be right, but I believe, too, that demographics play a huge role in personal experience where it seems that these statistics are in reference to a national average.

I'm not disregarding your experience at all here, just saying... I've been trying to locate the exact sources that lead to these conclusions. Appears to be another one of these so called "institutes" that formed this. I sent them an email requesting any data they collected to prove this and what criteria and date ranges they used to base this information on.

Will keep this updated with any further info for those who may be interested.
