I was on the brigade a few weeks ago, for those who don't know it is a variant of the chive, a picture website. Anywho, i read a caption that read Soldiers painted their faces black some having skulls as they were preparing for a "last stand". I just wanted some info on the subject, just were and when it took place. This is the picture i saw.

doesnt look like US military. looks more paintball

the united states military has strict standards of face paint application. "artwork" is not allowed. ask me how i know... heh.

Couldn't anything be defined as "artwork"?

    Jon is correct...

Every Infantry unit I was assigned too had the same standard of alternating horizontal bands of light and dark shades of green.

It brakes up the natural shadow lines of the face and makes the faces
of all your "friendlies" look just like you... reducing the chances of "friendly fire" in CQB situations.

    Tack

I bet Eastern European. Does not look like any NATO forces I have ever seen. They are an "organized" army though. Same gear. Maybe they are the modern F Troop-Younger members will lave to google this.:D

Would take that "prepping for a last stand" comment with a HUGE grain of salt. They- and their uniforms and equipment- have not a trace of dust or dirt.

As far as judging what facial camo is adequate and what is not, there is an E-6 out there that has made that his mission in life. Backed up by the Bn CSM.

    Right, Jon?

    thats correct.

when you paint a giant "happy" face on your face with camo paint you tend to earn extra duty points...

We were creative in our warpaint but that would never happen for real in any combat unit Ive ever trained with. Not gonna happen, negates the entire value of Camouflage, they arent likely flying B52's, they are dressed like infantry. Like JonM said, Extra Training would follow, like having to demonstrate the proper display of Camo and field gear 24/7 for the next 2 week in garrison! Bet they get it right the next time dont you?

that's definitely not paintball. The soldiers in the background are carrying FN 2000s and the one in front has some sort of RPG variant. I'll do a reverse image search.
