So Where's the Kimber Sub-forum? I have a NEW Monster!

I see all of the other manufacturers listed but no Kimber forum? As popular as the 1911 is?

The reason I ask is because I just picked up a wicked little side piece that looks like a hand cannon.

Air gun Trigger Gun barrel Revolver Everyday carry

This here is the Kimber - 1911 Super Jagare, 8-round, 6" 10mm. I have yet to take it to the range but give me a day or so. The specs

  • Capacity: 8 Round
  • Barrel Length: 6"
  • Overall Length: 9.7"
  • Weight: 42 oz
Features:
  • Solid Aluminum Trigger
  • Micarta Grips
  • DeltaPoint Pro optic
  • Ambidextrous Thumb Safety
  • Diamond-like Carbon Coating
I wanted to disassemble it but I could not find ONE video or article on the ENTIRE internet that shows how to do that. Now I have disassembled 1911's before but this one looked a little intimidating. I went for it anyway. 3-hours later, I finally got this beast back together but let me say this. The spring in this monster is one hell of a beyotch to get back inside the slide. Everything else to about 10-minutes to figure out but the spring and the latch that locks the slide back is an abortion to get back inside the weapon. If there are any 1911 owners out there, YOU KNOW MY PAIN. 🤬🤬🤬

So it looks like the Junkman is going to have to do the world a favor and make that video. I am NOT looking forward to it so I'm going to put a boat load of rounds through it first. I clean any weapon I shoot, right after I shoot it so I don't know how often this beast will make it to the range unless someone shows me a better way to deal with that spring. 🤦‍♂️

Congratulations.
Would really like to have some range time with one of those.
Can't hardly wait for your range report.
I'm ready too. I have a entire ammo can full of 10mm. 😁

Congratulations on a nice addition. I've owned my fair share of Kimbers and my Super Carry Pro is one of my favorite carry guns. I'm also a big fan of 10mm and have several 1911 10mms but have yet to add one of these to my collection Would love you hear your impressions on it. A 6" 10mm really has my interest; although I'm not so sure about the porting.

I am totally with you about that Super Carry. That puppy is the perfect size for conceal carry and the trigger pull, due to where that hammer stops is to die for.

So what are you going to do with these and your other guns when you get moved to Nigeria? Can you take them all there with you?
That's the nice thing about certain countries. They have laws that most people must follow but EVERYONE there knows that any law made can be circumvented with a heavy enough handshake.... if you know what I mean. 😁

The difference between Nigeria and the USA is that the government doesn't try to pretend that there are no crooked politicians. Everyone knows who they are and who's palms to grease. Nice and simple. 😉

Nice pistol! You should be able to use a bent paper clip to hold the spring compressed and then disassembly is simple. With the slide locked back you should be able to see a small hole in the guide rod. Take the bent paper clip and slip it into the hole. Then gently release the slide until the clip is holding the spring compressed. Then it is just another 1911, but the spring and guide rod stay together unless you want another fight…

Enjoy the pistol! Ought to be a load of fun. I have a RIA 10mm, it’s a great pistol too, but only a 5” barrel.

I have the actual tools that comes with every Kimber for disassembly but that is not the purpose of that paper clip tool. I even have the barrel tool. That paper clip tool is used for disassembly but not reassembly, according to the video that I watched. The problem was not the disassembly, it was the reassembly. The video that I watched of a 1911 Custom II shows that I may have done the reassembly wrong. According to the video I watched, the spring is the first thing to come out and the last thing to go it. I did not do it that way and trying to compress that spring while putting inside the weapon was crazy hard. So now I'm about to do it again and see if the way that I saw is a better way. Here goes nothing!
Okay, following the Kimber 1911 Carry II video, I just disassembled the Jagare in 2-minutes. Now to put it back together....
So on this weapon, you don't use the paper clip tool, you only use the bushing wrench. That's the secret to depressing the spring.

Sorry my mistake on the paper clip ”tool,” it just has one mean recoil spring huh? I have never needed to use the bushing wrench on any of my guns, but I reckon if the spring is strong enough it could be helpful. I just use my thumb to compress it into position and turn the bushing by hand. I have not encountered a tough spring like you are describing.
Yea, that spring is brutal. It's a miracle that I got it in the first time I took it apart because I just used brute force. If you use the bushing wrench wrong and turn the bushing too far, that spring is going to explode out of there like a ballistic missile. None of my other Kimbers are even close to how compressed this thing is. Like you, I just use my thumb to hold those springs in place and turn the bushing with my hand. This thing has a heavy slide so it makes sense as to why the spring is so freakin' springy. 👀

There are bushing wrenches made offset to block the recoil spring from flying. That might be helpful for you.
The one that comes with a Kimber works just fine if you use it right. You just need to pay attention to what you're doing. Since I have that tool, I'm good with the spring. My problem is the slide lock. It took me 2-minutes to disassemble the weapon last night. I still haven't gotten back together because I can't get the slide lock back in place. A LOT of people will put the slide lock back in a manner that scratches the frame. I'm doing everything in my power to keep from doing that. If I didn't care about scratching the frame, I could install it with no problem but you know how anal us jarheads are. 🙄
Junkman, you shouldn't have bought the gun if there's no forum for it. That's Chevron deference, man!

J/K, enjoy that beauty!

Those are quite handsome! But man, you have got to shoot those puppies! Not shooting a gun is like sleeping in bed with Miss Universe and keeping your underwear on! 😬😬

Be very careful about BBQ now, Junkman. I was looking at briskets just this past weekend and that means something here in the Great Southeast!! As you well know, what gets looked at gets "cooked"..... (y) :ROFLMAO:

some pistols say "I'm really pretty, tell me how pretty I am"

some pistols say "yeah I'm small but I'll be there when ya need me"

some pistols say "OK so folks say I look like a brick but don't ever question what I can do for you"

and then there are pistols, like the one above that say "you had better believe I've got an attitude, you want to test me on that score ?"

that looks like it'll get the job done.....
