Now I just gotta decide whether I want Stainless or blued ... blued version has an accessory rail.

The beretta 96A1 .40 I figure for my price range 700 and under this is the best choice

500 year old time tested company and this model had 12 examples fired in the factory 168,000 times before a single malfunction. if that aint reliability I dunno what is

What say you FAT .... any other suggestions you think I should look at in 700 and under?

If it weren't for the grip size, I think Beretta would be among my some of my first choices.

I agree with Trip, they have some big grips on them. But I love the look of the Berreta!!

I have a 92fs in blued finish. It is one of my favorite range guns, very accurate, comfortable and never malfunctions.

Great pistol. If you want the INOX version...Beretta is making them with silver controls again. Nicer in my opinion. I noticed Cabelas had them in their gun counter.

Just too fat altogether for me, can't hold on to it. I really like the 92/m9, but there's no point in having a gun you can't hold onto while firing.

I've thought about getting one any ways and putting some hogues on it, but I've decided my next pistol is gonna have to be a 1911. I still may end up getting a beretta, but it's pretty far down in my priority list right now.

I'd recommend shooting one before buying, but I also have to point out that for a man who is 6 feet and 220 pounds, I have small hands. I was on the range next to a cuban girl while in the service, she was all of 5' 2"and maybe 115 soaking wet, and she had no trouble at all. Her hands were proportional to the rest of her.

I've found Berettas to have far too large a grip for what they are holding. Dang uncomfortable.

And so it continues...... So I did a little more research into this gun and they have plastic guide rods as well as other essential parts. I guess my search continues :( I really like the S&W M&P .45 in 10+1 I dunno so many choices ... but it seems like theres always a problem somewhere or another in manufacturing . I liked the XDm .40 and .45 until I saw them called " Rebranded croatian grenades " which I dont want a gun thats going to explode on me either ... decisions decisions

That plastic guide rod not only functions well, but is cheaply replaceable. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not sure if Cabella's has a the same line online as in the store. Also not sure if it was a 92 or 96. I just assume since Beretta's doing silver controls again it would be applied to both the 92/96. I'm sure you will be satisfied with black, if that's what's available to you.
