Just noticed that I am unable to post on certain threads. All of them are what you would call "political."

I don't want to jump to conclusions here but it appears that I have been muzzled. Not gonna lie. Not too happy about it. Feels pretty crappy.

Anyone else been put on a leash?

Relax, it's nothing you've done. There are only two types of people allowed into the politics section. Members who were grandfathered in (don't remember the cut off date. Some time in 2011 IIRC), and supporting members. A while back we were having problems with drive by trolls attacking the politics section. So the admin blocked all new members (who were not supporting members) from posting there.

It's an easy fix. Just become a supporting member. ;)

Are you a liberal? If so that'd be my guess as to why you can't post there. I wouldn't allow your kind to post either, if I ran the show. Discussion is only beneficial when its one sided.

    Just kidding.

Obama monitors this forum. If you will support his failing Presidency he will give you a low paying job in Washington.

yep, you were muzzled! must have set off the troll or liberal sensors!

JK!!!!!! TWW is correct. certain sections of the forum are restricted to only allowing SM's to post in. IOW's, you can read but are not allowed to reply. this was done simply because of the number of trolls that were coming onto the forum and stirring up trouble. C3shooter was getting overworked, even as much as he enjoys whacking trolls! they figured a troll wouldn't buy a membership just to post some trollish garbage on a forum. and it worked!

become a SM and join the Dark Side! it will change your life forever!:p

As the esteemed woodworker explained Pretty much for Supporting Members. This helps keep the trolls and varous other goblins at bay so we can carry on intelligent (most of the time) and adult (rarely) conversations in the political arena.

Contact Notdku for details on becoming a suporting member. I believe only $15 a year.

I am a SM, and you are not missing much by staying out of politics, on a gun forum.

If I spoke my mind on 9/11, JFK, moon landings, ET, gold in fort Knox, Obama, Bush and on and on, I would get banned, and be out a good gun forum.

A good gun forum, is just that, a good gun forum.

there is nothing wrong with a lively debate! i enjoy them and they open up those willing to learn some different viewpoints on things. there are times i have come to understand things from a different perspective, not that my mind changed about what i believe in, but how others feel about the reason they believe the way the do.

and the Mods are pretty leniant as long as it remains civil and the remarks are not personal attacks.

Everytime I read a political argument on a forum -- any forum -- I feel my IQ drop 10 points. Too much politics leaks out into the rest of the forums as it is.

How can you discuss firearms without injecting politics. That is like reloading without powder. Had firearms ownership not been political in 1776 we would not have a 2nd Amendment. :)

The Membership is kinda like an antivirus. Keeps most of the bugs out! I gotta respectfully disagree with AR 10; The membership areas are very entertaining and are great non-shooting discussion areas for those of us who love our other rights just as much as the 2A. Even Supporting Members get a bit crazy here and there. If they go to far over the edge, they get a time out mostly, if you get one, you know it and why.

The Mods arent that tough here, just consistent. I think the Supporting Membership section is my way of being acountable with to my words with a small but meaningful contribution to keeping the rest of the site free.

So we are not supposed to speak our piece ? A month or so ago I was looking to buy a .30 M-1 Carbine for my sons birthday. Being new to the internet buying and selling I took a chance. I received a flyer from Deans Gun Restorations and it had a great looking picture of a restored inland Carbine for $1500.00. Well thinking that that it would be safer to pay a little more and buy from a business rather than a individual I bought it and paid for it with a credit card. That came to fifteen hundred plus 3% card fee plus $40.00 shipping plus $25.00 FFL fee. The Rifle had problems with the Receiver that could not be fixed (wear) and I could not live with . I returned the Rifle to dean @ DGR and he was kind enough to send back $1000.00 of my near $1600.00 that I was out. I want to thank him very much because he could have kept it all I guess! Anyway, does anyone know anything about the James River Carbine with the new rock-ola Receiver ? I hope to have saved enough money soon to try it again.

No thanks. Worked on the hill as an intern in college and my fist job after I graduated was for a Republican lobby. I stayed in long enough to help get W elected the first time. As a reward our principal was made ambassador to a small European country.

I spent the rest of my time helping our wealthy clients secure government building contracts and trying to kill the "death tax."

If you think republicans are any better than democrats you are mistaken. Fact is neither are on the right side of all the issues and I guess I fall somewhere in between.

I was republican, today I am more democrat, tomorrow who knows. Like everyone I am taking in all the information and making a choice between the better of two evils.

I just feel that based on my experience with the GOP in the late 90's and early 2000's that my work for the party involved pandering to the religious right base and working to change policy for the benefit of large companies and very wealthy. Middle America was not on our radar and that bothered me.

So why do I even want to wade into any of this on this forum? I don't. I was just wondering if I was muzzled for being not republican enough.
