I've shot all sorts of different 1911's, but I have to say that Smith and the E series is now my favorite 1911. Kimber, Colt, Remington, Springer....I've shot quite a few...decided to buy the black tactical railed version a couple of months ago. @400 rounds in about a month and a half, not one fte, ftf, no problems...tack driver...and it looks cooler than any 1911 out there in my opinion...

love the fish scales, external extractor... was always a traditionalist before this gun...

Very pretty gun. How are they priced compared to Colt, Kimber, Springfield etc.?

That's it? I'm bringing this thread up from the almost-dead to ask again...

Any more experience with the E-Series? I'm all ears!!

    Smith & Wesson 1911

I have had this one for about a year. I paid about $1200 for it at a local gun shop. I have been very happy with it. It has a wonderful trigger break.

    Nice gun indeed.

I for one am glad the competition in the gun industry is taking off like wild fire. This keeps the manufacturers on their toes to produce newer versions that are more in line with the mods that we had been forced to make on our own in the past. The Springers, Remington, Colt, Sigs all seem to be stepping up their game, this is very good for us.
