    Ehh.

I'm more of an OEM type, but I do like charcoal synthetic

    stocks.

Chrome is too flashy for me...

I think the chromed Draco/ak pistol & the chromed MD57 pistol look nice; i have been tempted to buy one of each.

It's very well known that the SKS was widely distributed by the Soviet bloc,

and is still very popular. IMO, you should see if a Chromed-out

version is for sale, or get the cheapest SKS you can find. Since

you're going to totally refurbish it, it wouldn't make sense to find one

with a decent wood stock and high-grade finish on the metal.

In any event, stocks aren't hard to find.

Didn't some special North Korean unit use chromed out SKS's for dress occasions/parades?

hey all, just curious. there is an sks at my gun shop. used, its marked for 324. it has the folding bayonet attached. i didnt give it a close look but at a glance it seemed fair condition nothing that jumped out at me. i believe it was a yugo sks. so is this a fair ave or bad price for upstate ny?

classicarms.us has some Yugo's for $289 + shipping & FFL transfer fee. $340ish + shipping & FFL at Samco Global for da Yugo. J&G sales has some for $270 +shipping & FFL.

In comparison, $324 doesn't sound bad for one in good condition. I don't personally like the grenade launcher thingy on many of the Yugos.

I have really enjoyed my Norinco SKS.

SKS prices have gone up a lot. Seems like a lot but then I got a Yugo many years ago when they were under $150. Before that they were even less.

Can't say if that's a good deal in NY. Of course 7.62x39 is cheap and plentiful but I think the AK is a lot more fun, assuming you can buy one in NY.
